Review of Oceanfront Camping @ Reach Knolls, Brooklin, Maine:
My wife and I have stayed at probably 400-500 RV Parks, and this 'Extremely Well-Kept Secret Park' rates
in the top 10. This is a ‘Brand-New’ small, heavily treed, shady, pet-friendly park (Off-Leash at the beach).
The park is still under construction, but is extremely clean and very well run.
It has a fabulous waterfront (and a brand-new aluminum ramp and stairs for campers convenience), where
we gathered our own mussels (in between the starfish) and steamed them in beer, (wine will probably work
also) for a fine inexpensive supper one night.
Completely noise free (except for the Eagles and Ospreys fussing from time to time), and extremely reasonably priced.
They have the cleanest, largest 'vault toilets' I have ever seen, a ‘dump station’, great drinking water, hot showers at
the office, , small store, (there is a convenience store 4-5 miles up the in Brooklin). The owners, Lori and Paul, are fine,
fine, hardworking, honest, very considerate and caring people, that we now consider good friends of ours.
The Only 'draw-backs' we saw was we couldn’t get cell service (Verizon) from our RV Spot, but just a mere 20' walk up
the driveway towards the office fixed that problem.
The park has nice well-drained, but with only good hard-packed gravel roads, rather than paved, and the space we stayed
in only had 30 Amp., and no breaker in-line before the outlet.
In other words, no services other than electricity at the spaces, not too many 'pull-throughs', and not every slot is
completely level, but good drinking water and a 'dump station' at the Office.
But, as I said this is a Brand-New Park so these few deficiencies could be improved before long.
And, I can’t say enough great things about this little park and its’ owners. Plus, It's located in an area where with only
some short drives you can easily drive to see a whole lot of beautiful country, nice friendly, courteous people, sea
ports, bridges, beautiful homes, boats, and scenic and historical areas, and some of the most beautiful sunsets you
will ever see.
This great little RV Park will just keep on getting better and better the more brush they clear along their coastline,
thus making better views of their beautiful waterfront, from a lot of their RV Spaces.
Another Great Plus is we saw none, and saw no evidence of Raccoons or Skunks in the camp at all, therefore assuring our coolers, lights and other items left outside were O.K., unlike so many parks we have stayed at, and we saw No Reason at all to lock our RV, as I don't believe thieves have made it this far North, yet. I believe most Thieves are still in our Great State of Texas...
You really should make Oceanfront Camping at Reach Knolls a 'must stay' RV Spot the next time you visit this area.
I don't believe you will be sorry you did. It is Truly an Extremely 'Well Kept Secret.

I could not agre more! We just got back ourselves, we were in site #8 with the boxer. Less than a mile away you can get fresh lobster for $4.50 a pound.

You mentioned lots of trees, are the roads and sites free from limbs that might scratch the coach or be problematic? Could you get satellite reception (DirectTV)?

Have reservation for three days at Mt Desert Narrows by Bar Harbor. You ever been there? Got for $47 a day full hook up

. Sounds like this place maybe somewhat cheaper..?

Our RV is only a Class C (32') and although very shady, with stately trees, they are cut back from the roads and the parking spots in the Spaces.
But, please don't take my word for it, call Lori at the number in my Post, or email her and get her reply.

Brooklin, while a beautiful, quiet little "town", is pretty far away from what you might be planning to do or see in Bar Harbor. Not much going on there

We stayed at Timberland Acres RV Park, in Trenton, ME just out of Bar Harbor, and drove our Toad into Bar Harbor.
Personally, I would not want to be camped in Bar Harbor, it is too dang crowded, BUT, we were there over the Holidays, so it should be Much quieter and less congested now.
But Timberland Acres is a Great place to stay, and where we will stay the next time we get up here, at only I believe $35. per nite. We stayed in Shady #154.
If you can, take the airplane ride and see and take pictures of Bar Harbor, all of he Light Houses, and the island Much better than you can in or from a vehicle.

Thanks to both of you for info! Kind of new at the reserve or not at this stage. I know most of the cg's close by mid Oct so, we're just catching the last week basically. Others had encouraged to reserve because of leaf turning pretty busy up in NE. Sounded right. Planning on hiking and just enjoying sights! Of course eatin Lobstah

Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound is a great place to sit at a picnic table on a sunny day and have a lobster and/or some steamed clams. Trenton is also much more accessible to Acadia than Brooklin. Both are nice for different reasons
