Considering spending Feb 2011 in a private park on Gulf coast between Tampa and Naples, Florida, before moving on to our usual State Park locations. Any suggestions as to resort (or similar) type park that is nice, but not extremely pricey for 38' motorhome for a months stay. Thanks!!

I guess nobody wants to reveal their favorite snowbird roosts.

There is a thread that is currently active in this forum that suggests the Encore RV Park in Port Charlotte.

There are lots of RV parks along the Gulf, but a lot depends on what you consider pricey. The farther south you go in Florida and the closer to the Gulf, the more expensive campgrounds get. We have found most nicer parks in that area are in the $1000+ a month range. We stay a little north of Tampa and a little inland for half that.

For some suggestions, you might check out the iRV2 campground reviews (link at the top of the page) or look at rvparkreviews.com. You'll have to get out a map to find the names of cities and towns near where you want to stay, but there are lots of listings for Florida.

Recently came up the west coast and stayed at several RV Parks including Port Charlotte Encore. PM me FMI if you like.

If you go east about 30 miles from the coast you can find a nice 55+ RV park for 400-450 per month. Try Wauchula, FL. We have a lot at Avion Palms. Some folks rent their lots out for the winter if they don't come down.
