Gulf coast

Ok been looking is there anywhere in Alabama or Mississippi you can camp on the beach. Not across the street not an 1/8 mile walk thru the trees. Guess I'm spoiled camping on myrtle beach.

We usually spend part of the winter (several months) along the Gulf Coast of MS. Camping on the beach is not allowed and you cannot overnight in the beach parking areas either. You can overnight in some casino parking lots and a couple casinos have campgrounds. There are several campgrounds that are located within an easy walk of the Gulf.

Dauphin Island in Alabama might have what you're looking for. It wasn't close enough for us though, we prefer Camp Gulf in Miramar Beach. Unless you have pets with you, you are literally parked right on the white sand beach! Pets & you'll have to be one row back, it's a county ordinance. There's also another place called the Red Coconut in Fort Myers Beach close to Sanibel & Captiva, that is right on the beach if you're willing to go a little farther. Pets on the beach aren't a problem there.

Yea we have a lab and a golden. Half our fun is playing with the dogs in the water. Myrtle beach has hours for them to be on the beach I'm good with that. But to ban them I think is bs.

Well not ALL dogs are banned... If you're a resident it's allowed during certain hours & daylight savings time... Kinda odd.

I have 4 dogs (little & fluffy, lol) strictly inside dogs but I still research the laws/rules before I book a site...I don't like surprises! This is what I found about 5 years ago when we started going to Camp Gulf... strange right?

Yea Florida sucks. They allow 80 year old people in swimsuits in the beach but not dogs.

That's because 80 year old people can't reach their feet, to wipe the dog poo off them.

Yea but they are more likely to take a dump on the beach than my dogs.

It's only a county ordinance, there are lots of other places that don't have those rules, but they're not on the Gulf Coast. I'd definitely look into Red Coconut, a small portion of the park (4 rows) is right on the beach on the Gulf of Mexico. There's a lot more campgrounds right on the beach on the east coast that allow pets also.
