My family and I stayed at Ft. Pickens in the 1973 or 74. We were tent camping then. We went there with another couple I was stationed with at Keesler AFB, Ms. They had no children and we had two my son Donavon and my daughter Candice. The campground was nice we had a great time except for one thing, RACOONS !! Those guys are smart and they worked as a family. They cleaned us out of all our food. We had our food in ice chest. They took it all and left a trail for us to follow with sugar.. The friends that we went with had there food in their tent with them, that's the only thing that saved us the weekend.
The campground was nice then, they had the old fort with the canons it just was nice to camp there. If I were to go back I'd be ready for them . The racoons!
