I am planning a trip to the Gulf Coast next March and looking for a class A Motorcoach Resort similar to Pelican Lake in Naples. We want to be close to coastal section of Ft. Myers and the new RV Resorts are too far inland (25+ miles). The parks must be big rig friendly with 50 amp power.

Jerry, I would recommend River Bend, where LugNut stays but it doesn't meet your criteria as I know it's a good 20 miles inland...
I'm going to tie this topic to the "Southeast Region" forum and try and get you some responses...

Jerry, As Rebelsbeach said River Bend is inland, 17 miles east of Fort Myers on 80. It is however on the Caloosahatchie River with docks and launch ramp. From here you can boat east to the Atlantic or west to the gulf. We boat to restaurants in Cape Coral for lunch. It's worth checking out.

I know you wanted a Class A resort, but if you have never visited TopSail state park located in Destin Florida your in for a treat. It is super nice and has full hook ups including sewage and cable tv.
Destin is a super Destination!

You can try Silver Lakes which is next to Pelican Lake or Crystal Lake which is in north Naples. Silver Lake has a mix of RV's and includes a golf course. Crystal Lake has a Class A only section toward the back. Both are convenient to Rt 75 and 41 and the center of Naples.
If you don't mind being further from Naples, you could look at Chokoloskee Island park. It's right on the water and is an old ORA resort. If you like crab there a re a lot of places to get it right off the boat.

Bob meant SE United States members not SE Florida. The poster wants leads on a park like Pelican Lake on The Gulf Coast.

Road Pilot, thanks for getting this posting back on track.
I would like to stay at River Bend or Golden Palms, but they are just too far away from Captiva and Sanibel. When we travel in Florida, we usually meet up with others that stay on the beach in hotels. Although River Bend is close, it is too far to go back and forth a few times each day. Can anyone recommend somthing close to Sanibel that is big rig friendly?

Periwinkle Park on Sanibel Island is listed in rvparkreviews.com but I'll have to go out in the coach and see if it's listed in my "Big Rig Best Bet's" listings...
From the website it doesn't look like anything too fancy and certainly not a five star place, but it'd certainly be convenient...

Jerry, Cypress Woods is about 1 mile east of 75 in Ft Meyers. Gulf Waters is just off the road that leads to Sanibel. By the way, on Sanibel try Grandma Dots for lunch. The Red Coconut is right on the beach.
I would look at the reviews in rvpark reviews to see if any strike a chord. We haven't stayed at any of them since we have a lot in Pelican Lake, but did a lot of looking before we bought.
Last season we drove by Golden Palms. It was a sign by an empty field and nothing more. It'll be interesting to ride our motorcycles over there this season, but I doubt they've made a lot of progress. And you're right it's way out there.

We may go back to Pelican Lake and hang out at Marco Island. We prefer the nicer Class A Motorcoach resorts and try to avoid the camp grounds. Pelican Lake has always been a great place to stay. Now that we own a lot in at the Traverse City RV Resort in Michigan, it is hard to go back to camp grounds.
