Gulf Haven Campground in Gulfport, MS

Anyone have any experience with the above campground? Also, good restaurants and things to do in the general area. Thank you.

I enjoy the casino buffets. The Beau Rivage has a fantastic one or had one. I guess it is still good. Check out The Blowfly Inn.

Mikeys on the bayou is a good oyster bar near Ocean Springs.

Ocean Springs is the best little town around for visiting.

We have no experience or knowledge of Gulf Haven - we usually stay at Majestic Oaks when in Gulfport/Biloxi area. Look at the reviews on line - sounds like most are saying it is a parking lot with utilities. We have stayed at Cajun in Biloxi as well and that is ok. Good luck

Am not familiar with that campground as we are currently in a military campground in Gulfport. Keep in mind that all the casinos with the exception of Palace Casino are smoking and even though the buffet areas are non smoking, the casinos reek of smoke. We found the food in the casino buffets to be mediocre and expensive. Our favorite place is Desportes Seafood in Biloxi (near the Beau Rivage). It falls into the dives category but the seafood market has a small counter and a chef making daily seafood specials at a very reasonable price. US 90 is a wonderful drive along the Gulf.

It is a large gravel lot with the sites close together. Very few trees. Large list of rules. There are nicer parks in the area.

If you use the specials for the casino buffets (half price days--senior discounts--member cards) they are cheap.

Try Davis Bayou in Ocean Springs, part of the Gulf Islands Natl Seashore. Nice campground, about 10-12 miles across the bridge to the casinos. Easy access to shopping.

We stayed there last year. It was ok...I do remember hearing the trains each night behind us. Location was very good - beach across the street. Good eating places nearby and the casinos too...although we don't gamble, I always enjoy walking through all of them - people watching.
