We were thinking of going to Gulf Shores, Al this winter and would like recommendations for campgrounds, At present I am leaning towards Gulf Shores State Park, has anyone stayed there? The price is also good there and it is within a mile of the gulf.
Thanks and always travel safe.

We stayed at Island Retreat RV resort last winter for a week because we need internet access. We stayed at the state campground for years but it has changed so much because there are no trees there since the hurricane. In fact there are fewer trees every where since the hurricane. We liked Doc's and DeSoto's for sea food. Lambert's in Foley also has good food.

We are in Pelham, AL now and moving down to Gulf Shores State Park, for a weeks stay. Haven't been there yet, but we are looking forward to it. We'll let you know how it is, later in the week.
We love the area, spent quite a bit of time in Mobile and Pensacola over the years and we are looking forward to our time there.

Gulf State Park is a nice park. One of our Allegro Club members goes over there frequently. It is handy to beach and enough shopping that you can put a serious dent in your wallet if you so desire. The Original Oyster House is a must place to eat for good seafood. Lillian's on Perdido Key on the Florida side has you'll hurt yourself pizza and Italian food.
Itrnk: We're going to be at Anchors Aweigh in Foley (it's about a block and a half from Lambert's) Monday - Wednesday. If you want to get together for a "Howdy" and a cup (or possibly something a little stronger) send me a PM for my cell number.

Tom,
We just pulled into Gulf Shores State Park and will be here for 5 nights. The sites are very good, all paved, with great water pressure and all have 50 Amps as well as sewer. What a deal for under $20.00 a night.
Close to Pensacola and Mobile, two places we really enjoy.
Here's the bad news. When we checked in there is a bulletin board in the office that says the park is completely booked November through March, all others first come first served. Could really be iffy without a prior reservation.
Mike
