Gulf Shores Alabama
We are planning a trip the third week of October to Gulf Shores, Alabama and was interested in hearing what you think of the RV parks in that area. We like good hook ups with level sites. We don't use the bath houses and don't have any need for the laundry rooms. We were going to go to Destin, but heard that the state Hog rally will be there that week. We have nothing against motorcycles, but we were looking for a little quieter atmosphere. Would love to hear everyone's suggestions. Thanks!

It doesn't get any better than Gulf State Park. Full hookups, big sites, close to the beach, great walking, restaurants, etc. Have fun!

+1 on Gulf State Park, but bring some ant poison. We have been there 4 times over the past 2 years and have never had issues with ants until the last trip which was 3 weeks ago.

Hi Fishe,
You can also take a look at Heritage RV resort and Bella Terra RV resort, they are both in the area and are very nice parks. While you're there, stop by Doc's Seafood Shack for a meal, it's where the locals go for seafood.

First, ALL sites will be level...so no worries at all.
Secondly, your choices go from high-dollar (transient) very nice, on the water) to very economical (lots of retired live-in residents)
There's a park right under the SR59 bridge into GS that's quite large, and just a few miles from the beach.
Let me know what your druthers are in a park and I might be better able to suggest something.

Hi,
We hope you will be able to find a campground in Gulf Shores as it depends on how long you want to stay.
Gulf State park is all fulled up unless you are going to stay by the week. The monthly sites are all taken.
There is a new campground called Surf n Sand on the Foley Expwy that might have open sites.
Hope this helps and welcome to IRV2

According to the web site, monthly reservations aren't even being taken until November 1 so how could it be all filled up already?

Hi,
The reservations that are being taken on Nov 1st are for the 2015-2016 season. Trust me their monthly sites are all booked unless someone cancels.
I know because I am staying there this year for 4 months and will reserve a site for next year.
Like I said before their weekly sites are open, I think.
Enjoy!

Check campgroundreviews.com. We were in the area about 2 years ago for the first time. Fantastic! We stayed at four different parks, all of which were great! And Destin -our son has a condo there - puts everything this California boy has seen on the West Coast to shame!

Perdido Cove between Gulf Shores and Pensacola. Under the Perdido Bridge. Nice water and nice sandy beach . Probably listed under Perdido Key, FL

X2 on Perdido Cove; especially if you like water activities and view. My guess is that the park will cost maybe twice as much as one off the water, if that's a concern.

Hog rally here is no big deal, never see much of them as they head out of town in small groups on there rides. Not even close to summer traffic. That is crazy. If you are at Topsail you will never see them.
