Hatteras / Ocracoke Ferry NC12

Thinking about traveling NC12 North from Cedar Island to Ocracoke. then to Hatteras Island. I know there are two ferries involved. They take vehicles up to 65'. We're 43' and the toad will be separate. Anybody done this and care to share some advice? We will be taking this route in mid-April of 2017. Also recommended cg's?

Thanks

Been on that ferry couple of times with our car lotsa big truck so MH should be no worries. Friends of ours took ferry south to Ocracoke and on to the mainland with their MH and toad and they lived to tell about it. Ocracoke to the mainland needs reservation though.

We did that with our long truck and 5th wheel except the opposite direction.

Cedar Island to Ocracoke
$45 40' to 65' (if toad hooked up) otherwise extra $15 for toad ($60 total)
Not a real issue staying connected.....drive on and drive off
Trip takes about 2 1/2 hrs
Make reservations and get in line early........

Oracoke to Hatteras
FREE
Make Reservations and get in line early
Takes about 1 hour

Thanks for the responses.
Further research did not find a cg to handle 43' coach.

John, where are you looking to stay? I know of several on Hatteras that take large coaches.

John, we did the trip north to south a few years ago, 39' MC with toad hooked up, total length per ferry team was 50'. I think that was short, but it meant it cost me less. No problems, drove on, drove off, easy, peasey. One thing to watch, some of the campgrounds are not open until late in April.
