Headed to the Red woods in California

Can any one give me some tips and info to help on our trip. We are going down I-5 south to Grants pass and then over towards Jedediah Smith Redwood State park. Any nice RV campgrounds in that area. Good things to see ect. We went through there about 20 years ago in a camper and had a blast but now I will have a 34' class A with Jeep on back. We plan on docking and exploring in our jeep. Thanks

We were there is Late July and Early August this year and stayed at Klamath River RV Park. It was a nice park but no trees for shade. We were only there for 2 nights and were out site seeing both days.

I would suggest the drive along the Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway, just beautiful and plenty of places to stop for a walk.

One stop that is well worth a couple of hours is the Great Cats park http://greatcatsworldpark.com/cmsj - Home at the south end of Cave Junction about 28 miles west of Grants Pass on the way to Jedediah park. South of Cave Junction in O'Brien is Lone Mountain RV Park Southern Oregon RV Parks - Lone Mountain RV Resort and Tipi Campground and Cabin, O'Brien Oregon.. (I believe it is a Passport America park)

Ancient Redwoods RV in Redcrest is a great place. It's right in the midst of the redwoods with some very nice easy trails to take.

Redwood rv Resort near Crescent City. Stayed there in July and really enjoyed it. Close to everything. Would definitely go back.

Stayed at Klamath Camper Corral in August for 3 nights and enjoyed out stay.

Trees of mystery is tourist kitsch but lots of good info about the giant redwoods as well.

x2 on the Newton Drury scenic drive. At the south end of the drive keep going a few more miles to Davis Rd, turn right and go about 8 miles on dirt road to the trail head for Fern Canyon. Short 1/2 mile loop and incredibly beautiful canyon.

Continuing south and head for the Lady Bird Johnson grove of redwoods. Very still, peaceful and awe inspiring. Fire swept through the area many years ago and it's just stunning how the redwoods continue to thrive.

We stayed at Klamath River RV Resort in June of this year, all grass sites and on the Klamath River.

Thanks again for the tips. We spent the day cruising the Redwoods with our jeep top off and loved every minute of it. We went to the Jedidiah state park but they didn't have any hook up or place that we would fit very easy so we went west about 1 mile to Houchi RV resort. It is quite and nice there. Resturant across the street and a store and gas station next door. Also took a jeep drive south to Cresent city and down to kalamath. A lot of places to pull over and go down to the river and let the dog swim (yellow lab). Reg gas is $3.9999gl Heading North up 101 tomorrow.

$3.99 for gas is down $.20 from what I paid in Crescent City and Klamath at the end of August. Propane was high too, paid $3/gallon to fill tank.

Glad you're having a good time.
