If coming from Central NY, them come up RT 12/28 to Old Forge and points north. If coming from the Albany area, go up the Northway and get off on points west at Glens Falls amd head into the high peaks area.

Last Spring/Summer, we took highway 3 out of Watertown, 30, 28N to I-87, through the Adirondacks with a stop at Little Wolf Lake RV in Tupper Lake, NY. We were in a 40' pulling a TOAD. The roads were wonderful. I even stated to my wife that all the roads in the US should be surface that way. Enjoy your trip.

On your travels we stayed at the Herkimer Diamond Mine KOA, what a nice camp ground. It is backed up against a river, lots of trees and the sites are all a nice size. If you want you can dig for diamonds just across the road from the KOA or go north 1/4 mile and there is another mine. Just a fun stop for a night or week. We had a wonderful time with our three grandkids..just my thought..

If going across NY. on I-90 going east and thinking about getting off the Turnpike in Utica, and if you want to cut across the lower Adirondack Park route 8 is real broken up. There were a lot of frost heaves and dips on the whole way to the VT. boarder. You really had to pay attention. I would say the whole section between I90 and I-87 needs re-paving.

Also a few updates if your traveling across NY on I-90 and are going into or from Vermont. Route 149 between Glens Falls and route 4 is closed. Also route 4 south of Glens falls is closed for construction. The Crown Point bridge into VT. on route 74, 22 or 9n is being rebuild. They operate a "free" ferry to cross Lake Champlain. The ferry leaves every 15 minutes. We used the ferry 3 times and never waited more than 10 minutes......
