Heading to Sourthern California this winter. Any campgrounds around L.A.

Trying to find a campground within
50 miles or so of LA. Also thinking of going on 1 and or 101 . We have a 36 ft class A with a toad. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There's a very nice place in Newport Beach, on the lagoon. There's another decent place in Malibu (the only place in malibu) but they are a PITA. In the winter it's not hard to find spots at the State beaches. In the summer it's a lot tougher.

Hi there Carl. The big secret camp ground around Los Angeles county is Pudding Stone park in San Dimas.
here is the link:
Camping / RV Park Rates - San Dimas California - Parks, Lake, City, Events, News

It is near a small air field (Brackett) and the LA County fair grounds. There are
hill top sites that overlook the lake and air field. A bit off the 10 fwy on the east
side of LA.

Valencia Travel Village, on Henry Mayo Drive. Junction of I-5 and Hwy 126. Easy drive on Hwy 126 over to the coast to connect w/ 101. Use I-5 directly to LA area.

Strange question to be in the "NEW RIG SHOW-OFF" area. Wouldn't there be more interest and replies if asked in the proper area?

A nice place near Disneyland is Orangeland RV Park. Orangeland RV Park, RV Resort Camping, California, 92867 I've stayed there. It was wonderful! Anehiem RV Resort is closer to Disney, but...

The Malibu RV Park is up a big hill, and I doubt you'll be able to get a reservation for a trailer that size, but you may get lucky. (I grew up in Malibu)

There is Sycamore CG in Malibu. Sycamore State Park Campground Malibu

Leo Carillo is a good choice too, but it's further North. Leo Carrillo State Park Malibu

There is an RV park in Long Beach down by the Aquarium of the Pacific - Golden Shore R V Park - Long Beach, CA

Redondo's Dockweiler RV park is ON the beach. Redondo Beach is great, and the Redondo Pier was one of our favorite spots to go when we lived in the states. Dockweiler RV Park Redondo Beach

If you are willing to go north of county line into Ventura (north of Malibu), there are some CGs along PCH.

Use Google streetview to check out any other RV parks. If you're not familiar with So. Cal., just going five miles in any direction can put you in a neighborhood that you wouldn't want to walk around in at night.
I've excluded some (which shall remain unnamed) for a reason...

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

BB

Your right. I'm new to the App and computer challenged. Not sure how to get my question to the correct area. I'll keep trying.

Just go to the Camping Locations and Info forum and post a new thread there with your question.

Please do post pictures about your RV here. We love pictures.

Second vote for Puddingstone

We have stayed at the RV park at Puddingstone Reservoir -- called East Shore RV Park -- a couple of times, since we started RVing 3 years ago. It has a "lived-in" feel to it -- lots of long-term residents -- but everything was clean and well maintained, people were friendly and it was quiet. We've only been in the winter and they always seemed to have lots of room for short-term stays. The sites are large, not on top of each other and most have great views. Not particularly close to restaurants, etc., -- it's in the middle of a park -- but a good bet. Definitely recommended.
