Heading to Yosemite NP - via Hwy 120 CA

Hello All. We are heading from Zion NP in UT to Yosemite NP via Nevada. My question is has anyone driven HWY 120 from Benton CA to Lee Vining CA. We are traveling in a 40-foot motor home. What is the condition of the road? I did not see any travel advisories in the Mountain West Directory for Truckers and RVerís. We are not planning to drive our motor home on Tioga Pass; we will use our min-van. I appreciate your assistance.

For current road conditions on all California highways,
Telephone CALTRANS DOT @ 1-800-427-7623 and punch in the highway number.

Benton to Lee Vining is a beautiful drive - curvy towards Lee Vining but not scary or steep. We've done it with our 40'. Further on from Lee Vining to Yosemite, check the road condition web site. Sometimes it opens later than you might expect. Have a good trip!

If I recall correctly there is a 2-3 mile stretch of road with large rises and dips. So much so that our motorcycle's suspension bottomed out at the bottom of the dips and the front end was light at the crests. Yee-Haa! Best way to describe it is like a roller coaster.
There are great camping spots on both sides of the road between BHS and 395. It is a fine road, just don't go 75 or you might find you have 40 feet airborne!!!
We love that drive and you have good views of Mono Lake from 120.
Lee Vinning has a nice campground on the north end of town, west side of the road.

We live out in our old van. Travel all across this land. Drive until the city lights dissolve into a country sky, me and you - hand in hand.

Tioga and Glacier Point roads are open for the season with no restrictions. Doesn't mean a dusting of snow won't close them temporarily.

One of the earlier openings I can remember.

Travel safe

Thanks to all that provided comments. We drove Hwy120 the other day. The road is indeed in good shape, a lot of it newly payed. Some hills and some dips but saved us a lot of mileage. I appreciate everyones hellp.
