We plan to take a look-see at the Idaho side of the Hells Canyon area this June. Information on a destination campground from which we can launch 5 day-trips would be useful. We will be arriving from the Yellowstone area and departing for the Washington coast. Thank you.

Ron & Marsha,
My Wife and I live in Idaho and have been to Hells Canyon many times and stay at Copperfield campground......BEAUTIFUL SPOT! Also here is a website www.publiclands.org. Another one is www.rv-clubs.us/idaho_rv_campgrounds. We also like Three Island Campground near Glens Ferry, ID and Massacre Rocks State Park near American Falls, ID. We recently drove and did some research north of Sun Valley, Murdock Camground and North Fork Campground (no hookups). If you are interested in campgrounds in the Boise area contact me and I can give you more information because we live in that area. If you have a RV over 30 ft in length be careful when checking out campgrounds in the mountains because many of the mountain campgrounds have a limit of 28 ft (ours is 34 feet so we are careful in choosing spots).

Ron

It depends what type of camping you are looking for. There is ****'s Canyon State park on the river, lots of room for large rigs or Grantite Lake RV Resort in Clarkston Wa. Both are nice with the later being more pricy.

We spend the last 2 weeks of May in the He$$'s Canyon area every year. If you like boondocking, we take the bridge at Oxbow and cross over toward Brownlee dam. There's a small campground called "Carter's Landing". No elec or water, but does have an outhouse. It's surprisingly quite nice there...and is only $4.00 or so per night. We park our 36 footer, plus our tv. Many other big rigs down to tents camp there -- approx 15 sites.

Hi, we spent a week in Mountain Home, ID at the Moutain Home RV park (I 84 exit 95). This is a new park that has all the goodies you look for..
