Smile Help - driving W to E thru Big Bend NP

We will be going thru TX for the first time this winter. Can anyone tell us about the road through Big Bend going from Study Butte to Rio Grande Village? We have a 27 ft RV and can't find much info on the road itself.
Thanks

2 lane road all paved and very scenic. Not a high speed highway and if your going to Big Bend you want to enjoy it all. I have driven that road with 38ft coachs a couple of times.

Are you coming into Study Butte from Alpine or from Presidio? If the former, no problem. If the latter, be aware that there's a 15-16% grade (the Big Hill) you'll be climbing coming eastbound on FM 170 (the River Road).
