We live in NJ. http://adventureboundcampground.com/ near Provincetown, MA is one of our favorite spots. It's about 50 miles further than you want. Also Martha's Vineyard or anywhere else on the cape is nice.

Try Fisherman's Point RV in Rhode Island. Near the Block Island ferry, and 20 miles from Newport - a very historic city.

I like Brialee, just north of Hartford CT, lots of activities for both kids and adults. They have a dog beach which is not common, a great snack bar with well priced breakfasts and even a pub for the adults. Very commercial but I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life. Every weekend has a theme but if you'd rather have nature there are hiking trails there too.
Black bear in Florida NY is also nice, very cute little town to visit but other than the pool, not much in the way of activities. Not too far to the casino though.

You can't go wrong here, but this place will fill in the summer. Area 1 has 30 amp, water and sewer and large paved sites $35 non-resident. But forget getting a site on a weekend. Area 2 has 30 amp paved sites with water, no sewer. Sites are a lot smaller and some with grades not suitable for MH's, you need to pick and choose in this area. Area 4 also 30 amp with water, has large LEVEL sites that are gravel. We are in area 1 now, but have to move Friday (area 1 is filled weekends from now until after Labor Day) and we are going into area 4.

We attended a Rally at the Lake George Escape park a couple of years ago. The area is nice, but very pricey. It hit me as a place for weekenders out of Albany and NYC, the prices were NYC for sure. A bit too much on the tourist trap side for us.

Lake George RV Park is very nice and well kept. You really cannot go wrong there.
Some others would be: Yogi Bear at Lazy River, Gardiner, NY; Lone Oak Campground, Canaan, CT; Pine Hill in Oakham, MA; Normandy Farms, Foxboro, MA and The Villages at Turning Stone in Verona NY....there are plenty of others, but these are some good ones. Have fun....

If you head north from NJ expect gas prices to jump about 50 cents a gallon from NJ. You may be better looking south...

Central VT. might be a little too far from NJ. We have camped at Lake Dunmore Kamperville. about 5 times in the last 15 years. have checked out a number of other private CG's and didn't like them. They have 3 pools there, mini golf, bingo about every night. The sites are gravel and mostly shady and most are a nice size...except the loop by the playground. It is noisy on the weekends because they usually have a dance for teens. Pix's from Aug 10' trip

I want to thank you all for the great advice and the time of your life's to help me choose a campground. I made the decision to go with lake George RV park they are pricey but they have a lot of nice stuff for kids and at the end of the day I live my life for my soon and daughter so I went with that and I booked it. Its costing me $72.00 per day but it seems rally nice on the web, so one more time thanks to all. Joe
