HELP FL CG booking

FACTS, 5 days in a row 2 PCs logged into Reserve America on the available but not bootable site until 8A. Hitting book now key till our fingers are raw. Next screen that comes up is site not available already booked?

Are we doing something wrong?

Have been doing this with all 3 Keys State Parks

Frustrated, r0n

Those sites book a year ahead of time.I've been able to get sites on cancellations but you have to be ready to go,they usually cancel a few days ahead of time.Site is not broke.

Try booking by phone. I have had similar issues in the past. So I get it up on the screen then call. This way I am looking at it while talking to them.

All their numbers are listed below.

There are ways to game the reservation system. One we use when the grandkids absolutely, positively have to stay in a particular spot is to book a time that starts earlier than your intended stay and extends through it. Later, pay the cancellation fee and keep only the days you want. For example, if you wanted July 4-6, start your stay date June 20 for a 2 week stay and reserve as soon as you are able (one year). A couple of weeks later, cancel all except the July 4-6.

Lots of flamers will holler about how unfair this is, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. We winter in Florida and have never been able to stay in state for a spontaneous weekend getaway with the motorhome as we will not just show up at a park and hope for space. Florida parks fill extremely quickly in prime season.

I would be one who finds this not fair to people who play by the rules. Ohio State Parks allowed this to go on the first year they offered reservations, but caught on to what was happening. Now when you make any changes to the original reservation, the whole block of dates go back into the pool of sites available.

Now Reserve America couldn't care less because they will make more $$$ from the cancellation fees collected. It all comes down to $$$. The people who have extra to cut in line in front of others in the back of the line.

Thanks for all the feedback!

We have tried calling we where put on hold when we did get to the agent he informed us that by the time he received the first call all 5 available sites for that day where gone and to use the web site it was faster.

We are not tiring to do a last minute arrival; we are attempting to book 11 months out. We did figure out the sites that are available are released( [A] available) at midnight but you can only reserved at or after 8 am at with time we keep trying from 7:59 thus 8 AM when we get site not in inventory ( [R] )already reserved. You can only book/stay 14 days so no block booking available. We are looking at Jan thru Feb 2013.

Thanks again, r0n……… :(

0k good news, after 2 relentless week of the daily attempts to book. On one day my wife and I got a site on the same day. Can you believe that? We chose to go with Bahia Honda for 14 days. I guess persistence pays off.

r0n….

Above was from my earlier post.....

Yes, had the same issue with booking a site in the Smoky Mtn last year. Every time I went to reserve a riverfront site inside the park it would get booked before the 6 month beforehand date to reserve that site. At that point I had a good idea that was what people were doing. Almost all the sites would be gone by the time I got on the phone and a person checked a site. Never did go to the Smoky's last year. So I called earlier this year and to ask what was the fair way to get a site. She said you have to get online at 10am. and click "buy the site" when your computer clock hits 10:00:00 exactly..at 4 seconds past 10 the good sites for the day are gone....

I actually practiced a few times the week before, because once you get a site in your shopping cart you have 20 minutes to pay for it. I just wouldn't pay for it and let it go back in the pool of sites and wait for the dates I really wanted.....
