Help planning Bristol trip

We are headed for Bristol TN in Aug and need some help planning scenic trips around that area. I know there is some beautiful drives in Tenn and need some recommendations. Something no longer than 5 to 6 hours and we will be using the tow car. We are traveling from the Little Rock area so Bristol west please.

The big Bristol speedway race is (if I recall) around the third week of August. You'll find things (campgrounds, traffic etc) jammed for 50 miles in all directions around race days. May want to plan around that unless your plans actually include the race.

Bays Mountain that I know is in Kingsport and is run down. It's cheap but the city doesn't really take care of it.
