I am looking for somewhere that would accommodate a travel trailer near the State Fair park in Dallas TX. We are going to the fair and are hoping to stay overnight. Their website did not offer any camping information as far as I could tell. Thanks in advance for the help.

Do NOT park/camp anywhere around the Fair Grounds. That is a really BAD part of Dallas. You should find a camp ground on the highway you are entering Dallas from and camp 10 to 20 miles out and drive your car into Dallas and park in one of the secured parking lots around the Fair. Unfortunately the Fair is in the very heart of the "Stabbem, Rob'em & Steal" South Dallas neighborhood. Inside the Fair itself is safe as there are a jillion Police officers all over the place. Have fun and bring LOTS of $$$money$$$ as the price of food and rides is at least 4 times more expensive than you would ever dream of!

Good luck - Glenn

What he said. Also, arrive and leave during daylight hours.

Texas Fair is in OCTOBER but will post this for next year's Fair.....

Southwest of downtown Dallas about 20 miles is Joe Poole Lake situated between the towns of Grand Prairie and Cedar Hill. On the Grand Prairie side are Corps of Engineer parks. On the Cedar Hill side is Cedar Hill State Park. The Corp Park is nice but no sewer hookups. The state park has few, if any, sewer hookups. The corp park is near HWY 360 just south of I20. Cedar Hill SP is south on FM1382 from I20. You will have 30amp, water, and dump stations at both the Corp and the State Park. I dont know about 50amp service.

As others have said, inside the State Fairgrounds is relatively safe with lots of police offiers. DO NOT park in any private parking outside the fairgrounds property. The fair property is surrounded by the worst parts of Dallas with extremely high violent crime rates. I grew up in Grand Prairie and went to the State fair often from the 70's into the 90's, so I knows of what I speak.

I concur, don't stay anywhere close to the fairgrounds. There are not really any RV parks close to downtown Dallas. There is a nice park on I20 about 20 minutes east of Dallas. Bluebonnet Ridge in Terrell is a nice park and easy access to I20. From the fairgrounds you would get on I30 east and take the US 80 east exit which merges with I20 at Terrell. Multilane divided all the way.
