In June we will be heading to Maine from Houston to visit family there in the Bangor area for about a month. Sometime in mid-July we plan to travel to Quebec City, Montreal, Ottawa and take Hwy 17 from Ottawa to Sault Ste Marie. I could use some suggestions from someone with experience on where to stay for an overnight in the North Bay, ON general area. We're driving a 40' MH and towing a Honda. I'm kind of leaning towards Fairview Camping Park and Marina based only on web searches......no CGs that I've found online sound too encouraging, can anyone help with their experience?
Thanks!!

Hello. There are a few campgrounds along the way and you might want to consider Algonquin Provincial Park; One of the nicest parks in Ontario. It has 12 campgrounds in the park and a multitude of nature attractions. Even if you don't stay there, you might want to visit it. Likely the campground to interest you is Kiosk which is accessed via Mattawa which is about 18 -20 Miles East of North Bay on Hwy 17. The CG would be about 18 mi. S of mattawa so you would be about 35 - 40 mi. SE of North Bay when parked. That would be my stop but I don't need pools, shelters, telephones and all those things that are not camping related.

Hi,
It has been my experience that while in Canada camp at their Provincial Parks as they are really nice. I like them better than KOA's.
You may also find a few God Sam parks but I think you will like the Provinvial Parks and they are usually listed in Woodalls.
Have fun.

go to the website for the province that you will be traveling in. Look for the tourism link or the provincial park link for information on campsites
Hope this will help you on your travels

Hello, Again. I forgot to mention that that City of Ottawa has a very nice park which is easily accessible off hwy 417 on West side of city; it's called Ottawa Municipal Park on Corkstown Rd, Napean. The really good thing is that it is intended strictly for travellers; locals are not allowed. Large, private, trees and superb lots. One of my favourite parks and the only one I use when visiting Ottawa. A bonus for you is that hwy 417 becomes Hwy 17 towards North Bay just a few miles West.
Have a good trip.
Mark
