I need a quick answer! We have reservations in 2 weeks for Hunting Island State Park in SC. After doing some reading today, I feel that we may be in trouble with low hanging trees. We are still getting used to how big we are now and we are not in a tent or pop up anymore Toto.
Does anyone have knowledge of this campground and specifically with Loop #6? I tried to cancel reservations tonight with Reserve America but unfortunately for me, the web page is not working and they closed land line at 5pm. Will be charged more if I wait till tomorrow. Course I am forced to wait now anyways but do I need to worry? Sorry bout long post! Help!!

I have been there twice. Once with a 5th wheel and last year with a 38' RV. Just drive slow and you should be fine. My DW watched as I backed in for overhead as well as sides. Great park but bugs can be bad during summer. Hope to go back. Sorry but do not remember circle 6. Really nice beach area with trees. It does get a little tight on one of the back circles on the curves, but I just idled along and let the bicyclers poke along behing me.

I can't help with that park, but I carry a pruning saw with me. I have ad to get on the roof and do some trimimg to get out of one of our fine NP. I had ripped off one of my vent caps already.

juststreamin,

We've been there with a 34' 5th wheel, other than using due vigilance to watch where we're going there was no problem. It's a nice State Park and I think you should enjoy it, we did.

As was posted before, might want to have a spotter out when backing and/or driving by trees with low branches. You'll be fine if you're cognizant of the trees. There were several 'big' motorhomes there.

Can't recall any distinction regarding Loop 6.

We were just there a couple of weeks ago. I don't know which loop is which but we stayed in the one to the SE of the camp office near the beach. We walked most of the campground on a previous visit and don't recall seeing any significant problems. Some turns and sites are tight but many campers before you and me have gotten through the place fine. However, a few have torn up some tree bark, too. Like Hitchhiker says, take your time and have a spotter guide you. The beach there is beautiful and the campground overall is very nice.

Lastly, try to get there early. If you have problems getting into a specific site, don't be bashful about going back to the office and getting another site.
