Hersheypark Camping Resort

We just stayed at the HPCR and I must post a review.
What a great resort!

We had site #5 and think it must be one of the best sites there. Although, the campground is set up well. The upper section of the resort is on a hill. So they have the sites mostly tiered. This is great because you can then set up and look out over the other sites similar to stadium seating.

The campground is very clean and the staff is very 'Hersheypark Happy'!

There is a train track at the back of the campground which we were well aware of from the reviews. We actually would laugh when we heard a train coming which was perhaps hourly, at most. Close your windows and run the central fan and you will not hear it at night.

The campground is a gem and the half hourly shuttle to Hersheypark is perfect.

Definitely a must do for anyone that enjoys amusement parks and resort-like camping.

Thanks for the review. I really like it when anyone takes the time to say something good. About anything.
Being positive is kind of a lost art.

Great review and we have also visited the park along with the campground a couple of times. Very efficient check in as you need to be paid in full before arrival. This eliminates the need to park your RV, wait in line at the registration office then drive to your site.
With their "system" when you arrive at the gate there is a person who meets you with a iPad and gets your information, while that is going on a staff member shows you to your campsite. You never get out of your RV.
This was the first summer we did not go but we have been there many of times.

We went a couple years ago and loved it. The check in was not quite that easy as we had to go in to get our paperwork. We were in the pull through section and never heard the train. The shuttle is the best.

Stayed the week of the 2014 RV Show. Pros: CG clean, reasonably priced, shuttle service super-convenient and reliable; pet friendly! Great store with coffee and amenities. Also a great place to see a huge variety of RV units and see how real folks live in the class A, the pop-up, the class B or the giant DP. I am guessing that folks bought at the show or planned on trading something in! Cons: desk personnel booked improper size site for our RV which caused us to go back after check in and have them locate us another site-- they would not give us the site we sought as "it wasn't available for the time we were staying". Perhaps folks didn't show up but that preferred site stayed empty the whole time we were there. Staff was a bit "uppity" in my opinion and not apologetic about the error--it just seemed odd. Pool was closed as of Labor Day but weather was conducive to it being open a bit later than that. Also notable on neutral ground: train was noticeable and I felt for those along the "top line" adjacent to the tracks. At times, one could smell chocolate in the air-- REALLY! Lastly, only 45 mins away from Amish town for family-style sit down dinner; a tour of Tom Sturgis pretzel factory in Lititz, PA, and the Wilbur Chocolate factory -- both tours were free!
