Hidden jewels campgrounds?
Everybody has that campground that is their favorite. I would like to know yours.

We haven't been RVing for long (still working...ugh), so we don't really have any favorites yet. However, we really enjoyed a place called "Cloud 9 RV Park" outside of Hot Springs Arkansas. It's high up on a hilltop with beautiful views. No "amenities" like swimming pools, etc...just a nice quiet place with level sites and full hookups.

pomo campground in Fort Bragg Ca. Very wooded and quiet. Some with full and most with partial hookups. Has fish cleaning station with abalone tools and a nice large playground for the kiddies.

Our favorite place is in South/Central Oregon along HWY 138 called Susan Creek, only 31 sites, along the Umpqua River, very quaint little Campground, quiet with the river running adjacent to some of the sites.

A real hidden gem is the Trail of Tears State Forest in southern Illinois. The road through the campground runs along the top of a ridge. Most of the ridge is too narrow for camping, but here and there, it widens out a little and they put in a camp site. This has the sites spread out at roughly half mile intervals. You can often sit there for hours and not see another person. We have had deer and wild turkey wandering through our site.
Each site has two picnic tables, a fire ring, and a vault toilet. Several of the sites have a three sided stone and log shelter with a fireplace. There are no hookups, but water is available in the picnic area at the beginning of the road.

For us: Harecreek Campground, Corry,Penna. 30 miles from home great for early spring time and late fall camping (open all year around) Swimming pool, city water(120 lbs. of pressure) full hook-up and great wi-fi for $30.00 a night. Has been down to $25.00 a night in off times. The owner Gary is just a great guy! And in the office you will more than likely talk to Sherley, she will kinda take you by surprise right off the bat but you will soon learn she is nothing short of a comedian. The pull-through are over 100' long(grass w/small cement pad outside door) It is just a all a round a quite peacefull place close to home or even if you were passing through.

We have many favorites - they're known as the Corp of Engineers parks.
Never had a parking area less than a quarter acre - normally on a lake and with a "senior pass", they are 1/2 price ($10-12)
For a commercial park, anytime we're near Memphis it's the Tom Sawyer RV Park. Actually in Arkansas a couple miles south of I-40. It's ON the Mississippi River (50' away) and fun to watch the tug boats with their loads.

Our favorite is the AEP Recreation Lands between Caldwell and McConneslville Ohio https://www.aepohio.com/info/recreation/
No cost. You just need to download a permit, or fill one out on-site.
Graveled sites - we have seen big MH's, but mostly TT's and tents. More than you can count fishing holes for kayak/canoe/trolling motor boat or bank fishing. Hunting, biking, mountain biking, horseback riding trails, and hiking - the Buckeye Trail runs through here.
Water and primitive privies are provided. We take I77 and stop at the Williamstown, WV rest area on the way back to dump.
No check in or check out times. We leave from work and usually roll in late. DH likes to get in a nap in the afternoon and then hookup and leave.
Underground railroad historical sites are nearby. The Wilds conservation center is at the northern end. The Pennyroyal Opera House is close by in Fairview - go early for the food and stay for wonderful music. There is a similar facility in McConnelsville, but we haven't managed to catch a show there yet.

If you down in the keys. This is my favorite camp ground. It's BLUE WATER 10 miles east of key west. Each site has its own tiki bar in the water.
I'm down town in New Orleans right now. 2 blocks from the French quarter. This is one one the cleanest campground ever. Everyone would love this place to.
