Highway 82 from Winona, Mississippi to Tuscaloosa, Alabama

We are thinking of taking this route instead of using all Interstate. Any problem areas? Points of interest along the way? Mississippi State in Starkville and University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa will peak my interest of SEC football stadiums.

I recently did Winona to Columbus and it was a reasonably nice ride, as was Tuscaloosa to Columbus a couple of years ago. As with all US highways in the south you can hit some long rough stretches; not giant potholes or bone-jarring crashes but roughness especially in the right lane.

Just took this route a few weeks ago. No problems. Some traffic lights but mostly easy drive.

No real problems. There's a few miles before getting to Tuscaloosa that are still two-lane but it is good road.

At Ms State, check out the new baseball stadium. It will be finished in a few weeks and will be the nicest college baseball stadium in the country. While on campus visit the MAEFES store" The Cheese Store". The dairy science department makes its own cheese. The university is famous for its Edam cheese but the Valegarette is my personal favorite. Ms State BBQ is " The Little Dooey", Bama BBQ is Dreamland BBQ, if your hungry. If you are a history buff, the US Grant presidential library in on campus at MSU.
