Hilton Head Motorcoach or RV Resort in April?

We're heading to Hilton Head Island for a week in mid-April. In looking at both of the highend RV resorts there, they both seem very nice. At this point, they both have plenty of availability and we can flip a coin to decide. We prefer nicer, closer to things to do, the beach, and good restaurants! If anyone can give us a good reason to pick one over the other, it would be a great help. Thanks!

The Marina is a little more open but yes, you are not as close "to the action" so to speak. Not a real problem though. Biking from the resort is much better.

Both are very nice but very different. The ORA is in close to Sea Pines and easier to bike places. It's basically in the piney woods and sat reception will be difficult. The Marina one is on Skull Creek which is part of the intercostal waterway. It's also wooded but somewhat more open and sat reception is easier. Both have restaurants close but the marina one has one of the best on Hilton Head on site. We prefer the Marina but that's just us.

We stayed at HH Harbor RV Resort and loved it. One of our favorite resorts. The motorcoach resort is closer to the beaches and "downtown" area. But it's not that far from the HH Harbor to the busy areas.

We stayed at the Motorcoach resort which is gated community. Very convenient to the beach, eateries, shopping, etc. We enjoyed being able to ride bike from the resort to the beach on paved bike trails. The resort is simply beautiful. Quiet, well manicured landscape and shade, and has a very nice gym, pool and laundry. However, no campfires permitted and very dim street lighting.

While there, we also checked in with the folks at the RV / Marina and found that to be very nice as well. I would classify it as being not quite as "exclusive" as the MC Resort, and campfires were permitted in free standing fire pits. We would gladly stay there next visit. However, the location is not nearly as convenient to the beach side amenities and bicycling to amenities is not likely.

My guess is that you'll enjoy either place. Both places are terrific in their own way. Personally, I would probably lean towards the Motorcoach Resort simply because we much enjoyed the easy access from the resort to miles and miles of bikes paths.

cheers,
Joopy

In case anyone is interested, we changed our reservations from the Harbor RV Resort & Marina to the Motorcoach Resort. It's a lot closer to beaches and downtown areas, is better for biking, and we could reserve a specific site vs. picking a spot upon arrival. Thanks for the advice, it was very helpful. Will let you know how we liked it when we get back.

Have a nice trip. We have stayed at both places and the Harbor resort was our favorite, but we had a super spot on the water with a deck at Harbor. The restaurant was great.

The Motor Coach resort is in a forrest with a lot of shade around most sites. (Sat Tv did not work there)

Good golf courses on and off the island.

Love Hilton head area.

We have stayed at both, both started out as Outdoor Resorts.
I like the Marina because of the view and openness.

Not by any means do I mean to hijack this thread...so I apologize. I am currently looking for a CG in HH myself. Is there really on 2 on the the island? So far I like the marina and RV resort. But still thinking about it. I thought there would be several to choose from.

Yes Pace there are 2 very nice resorts. The other one, the Hilton Head Motorcoach Resort is not right on the sound, but is a lot closer to beaches and town. Please let us know which one you ultimately pick. It was a hard choice for us, which is why I posted this thread... Good luck!

I was disappointed with Hilton Head both very nice rv resorts but I much prefer Myrtle Beach. If you going for the beach go to Myrtle Beach the campgrounds are right next to ocean. If you are going for the golf courses head for Hilton Head. Just my 2 cents.

We spent Thanksgiving at the resort and found it very nice. We are heading back in June once the kids are finished with school. We had a lake front site.

Ejm4 we are staying on a lakefront site #348 at the Motorcoach Resort. From the pics looks the most open and very nicely landscaped.
By the way... Nice rig!

If we could have reserved a waterfront site at the Harbor resort, we most likely would be staying there... but since it's a crap shoot and we will be arriving on Saturday afternoon, I knew we would be assigned an interior spot... and then move on Sunday or Monday. We will be renting a car, rather than towing, as we can get one for about $100 for the week. So we will venture over to the resort one day to compare. There will definitely be a next time. Also going to check out Myrtle Beach, Charleston, and Savannah while there.
