Hilton Head Motorcoach Resort vs RV Resort and Marina

Has anyone stayed at both of these places? They both get excellent ratings at rvparkreviews.com, so I'm thinking I can't make a bad decision, but would like for someone to compare and contrast if possible.

We've stayed at the "marina". Had a nice water front site. We toured the other one. Both are nice resorts. The marina is better located if you plan to visit off island areas and sights, such as Beaufort or Savannah, the other resort is more central to the island and it's attractions.

Regardless of which cg you decide to stay I highly recommend the restaurant on the 2nd floor overlooking the water at the Marina, outstanding food and service. It is a small restaurant with limited seating, reservations are highly recommended.

Hilton Head

I have stayed at both Hilton Head Marina and the Hilton Head RV resort and my answer is it depends on what you want to do. I agree with what J Monroe said it depends on whether you want to visit things off the island or on the island.

The Marina resort is on the water and has a few sites on the canal leading to the bay at a premium price. All the interior spots are a short walk to the dock or restaurant. The CG has a lot of stationary RVs that people leave on their lots but the landscaping is nice and there are a lot of fivers and Class A's. If you don't kayak or boat there isn't much to do or see there and it's quite a distance on a bike to anywhere. It is nice and quiet and the restaurant is good and overlooks the bay.

Hilton Head Resort is larger and has timeshare and permanent sites in a dense wooded area. It is well landscaped and the RVs left on site are pretty nice. Our spot had a built in fire pit and entertaining area with outdoor kitchen. They have a nice pool and clubhouse and the propery is bigger if you want to walk around. What makes this resort nice is the proximity to restaraunts, shopping, and the great beach. Parking is sometimes hard in a toad anywhere at Hilton Head but on a bike you can go on a path from the campground to anywhere. The only downside we saw was the silly toll road charges everytime you want to go on/off the island.

Both places are nice but next time we will reserve at the Hilton Head Motorcoach Resort.....definitely go walk on the beach because it's beautiful. We particularly enjoyed the "Redfish" restaurant and sat outside by a fire. Another nice place is "The Jazz Corner" but you can't get in without reservations.

I had the exact same question earlier this year and decided on the Motorcoach Resort and real glad we did. Check out the thread i started... the resort has nicer sites, nicer pool and pool area, better bike trails, near more restaurants, and real close to the nicest beach. We took a ride over to the marina and hands down not even close.
