To those that have visited ellie schiller homossa springs wildlife state park in homossa .fl. Are there any campgrounds close by that you can recommend? We would like to take our grandson there this summer.

We stayed at 1000 Palms in Inverness for a couple of weeks last winter. Ok, nothing special. However $200.00 a week, quiet, no hassle. About 20 miles away. I'm pretty sure there were some closer campgrounds.

faye,
I don't have any recommendations, but if you search for florida campgrounds, that area in in the central state part, if I remember correctly. There are a good number of places within 25 miles, so you can look at their websites and pick the one that suits your needs.

Its Carefree Homosassa RV resort. It one mile past the park on Fishbowl Drive.

We spend the last 3 winters there. We found it while we had a PastportAmerica stay.

Also try Camp N Water at Homosassa. Stayed there several months last year.

a few more questions please, when i looked this up it said this was the former turtle creek rv cg, is that right? What about the bridge that some were concerned with? We have a tt and a powerstroke? Is it a full service rv park? Thanks for your help.

The bridge is a 10 ton max, but if that bothers you there are alternate routes in to the parks. Yes it is the old Turtle Creek, only cleaned up quite a bit. Full hookups too.

We are going to try Rock Crusher Canyon in a couple of weeks. From what I read, it's big rig friendly and close to both Crystal River and Homosassa

Both Rock Crusher and Carefree are nice places to stay. The pool and club house at Rock Crusher is newer and more modern than Carefree. Carefree may be closer to the activities you want to do. For me, it would be flip a coin.

We stayed at Natures Resort and had a spot down on the River. We also rented a small float boat at Riverhaven Marina ($75. half day ) and went up the river and floated with the Manatees. There is also a Restaurant called Neon Leons that has a fun show and welcomes kids.
Hope that helps !
