Hot Springs

We want to go to Hot Springs for a short weekend in January or February and have been looking at Catherine's Landing CG. Temp will be too cold to enjoy the lake activities. We're mainly just going to get away and relax and enjoy Hot Springs. Is this the best CG or is there another one closer to town that is as nice? Thanks

Found it was a very nice RV park when we stayed there a week last spring.

My wife and I like Gulpha Gorge which is a campground run by the National Parks Service. It is a small campground in a great location. It has new (2010) 50 amp electrical and sewer, and of course water. It is just off the north loop around Hot Springs on hwy 7. It is only about 1/4 mile on 7 with easy access. We stay there in a motorhome. It backs up to a creek with a walking trail in the woods. Perfect location to look around HS without having to drive very far. They do not take reservations, but have never seen it not having openings. They do not always have a ranger there. You just pay the machine and take an empty spot. Last time we were there it was $24 for us and $12 for seniors. Gulpha Gorge Campground - Hot Springs National Park (U.S. National Park Service)

We also really like Lake Catherine, but it is farther to drive into Hot Springs. Where ever you stay, check out Gulpha Gorge while you are there maybe for another visit.

We have used Lake Catherine a number of times and recommend it. It is only about a 15 minute drive from the east side if town and is a great setting. Some sites are too short or not level enough for a large motorhome, but you can select your site on-line.

Thanks for the replies. We hope to go up there in the next 4-6 weeks. Planning to stay at Gulpha Gorge this time. Close to town and not wanting to get on the water. If we get a chance to go back this summer we'll probably stay at Catherine's
