Hey, i'm making sort of the same trip. houston to New jersey, then vermont, then maine blah blah, pretty close travel though!

We ended up taking Houston to Tyler TX to meet up with a fellow irv2'er, then hooked over to Tennessee where we are now.

You have two choices.

1) I-10
2) I-45 to N Texas and then over on 20.

Do you have a preference??

Also, owning a rev, I can give you some assistance there if you need too. The 05 /06 models are very similar!!! So let me know if I can be of any help.

Another question.... how much time do you have to get to Albany?

Another question.... are you freaked out about sleeping in a walmart parking lot?
When we started, I was totally freaked out about it, and our first trip we camp grounded to cam ground. That's for the birds. If you just need an overnighter, don't be afraid to stop at a walmart and sleep. Get a subscription to overnightrvparking.com - for 24 bucks it's been worth it's weight in GOLD!

Also don't be afraid to sleep in rest stops, pull off's or behind restaurants that encourage RV'ers.

also what do you know of the history of your RV? That is a HUGE trip to make in an rv that you haven't had the chance to shake down.

When I bought my 05, there were numerous things we "discovered" that it needed.

Here's my immediate suggestion list!

1) Go to Holt Spartan / Cat in Austin (plfuegurville to be precise) and have them
.change the oil and filter.
.flash the engine to the latest software and change the ecm battery!
.new air filter
.check all four airbags and brakes.
.check radiator + fluid. change if needed.
.check fuel filter + change if needed.!!!!!!

2) Go to Beasley tire service on 59 North just south of B8 and have them check
.tire wear!!!
.alignment!!!

3) go to bob jones RV in South Houston (by hobby airport) and have them
. install a 50 EMS surge protector (under the bed) - (buy the part yourself!!!!!!).
. check all slide motors and slide brakes + slide motion and tracks.
. check norcold for latest fire mod.
. change the oil and filter in the genset!!!!

Further, is this the 06 rev that was on PPL's lot?

Also, I only fill up at truck stops, in the truck lanes with the 18 wheelers. DO NOT open the other side of the fuel fill while filling from the other side. The fuel WILL run out the other side Don't ask me how I know. Put some doctors gloves on board (nitrile, latex, whatever) cause the fuel pumps are DIIIISSSGUSTING!!

OH and one more thing, get on good sams website and do whatever you have to do to get to their trip planner. It's pretty good. We use it all the time to route around.

I just keep remembering all of the things my wife and I had to learn over the last year... all the mishaps, the wrong turns, the things we learned LOL, it's a hoot man. Hope you and your wife are friends !!

FURTHER - your gas gauge. You should have a 125 gallon tank. At half, you need 60 gallons. At 1/4, you need 75-80 gallons. Do the math before you walk in the store - they get peeved when they have to add up the math for you I walk in and say "I need $250 dollars please"

Google maps with satellite view on an ipad is you best friend!

Truckers are very nice on the road.

ALL TIME expands. What you think should take you 6 hours can easily take 10 hours! Plan ahead for this.

Did I mention that google maps satellite view is your new best friend?

Sorry to overwhelm you with responses, but we are kindred in both Houston and the fleetwood rev.

Also, Fleetwood American Coach support IS ROCKING! Don't EVER be afraid to call them, but have your fleetwood ID ready. You can find it on the sticker by the drivers seats, the bathroom mirror door and on the tag just outside the drivers window. They will help you with ANYTHING!! I'm truly amazed every time I call them.
