If memory serves me correctly Schaumburg is the home of O'Hare international airport. Could get rather LOUD. Just an FYI. Have fun!

I also would recommend 55 to 355. Google Jewel locations anywhere along your route. Best bet is probably closer to Chicago, so I would recommend looking at Shorewood, IL and exit N on IL59. This is suburbia meets cornfield, old downtown feel but surrounded by chain stores etc, more open and rural.
If that doesn't work I would look at a few more exits N on 55 where you exit to 355 at Bolingbrook, IL. Newer, denser population, heart of suburbia, I bet there is a Jewel within 3 miles. From there N on 355 it will get denser, tighter and faster. I would drive as little as necessary from that point on. Suburban WM's might not allow parking, call first?

South of Champaign, on I-57 you will be near Rend Lake. Nice C O E campground called "Gun Creek". Southern Illinois is the "foothills of the Ozarks".

NOW THAT sounds fun, cause on our way home, we are in NO HURRY

Schaumburg is not the home of O'Hare airport. It's about 15 miles away. You may be near the glide path, however. It's not a big deal.

Yeah I've flown in there before - and that's ok, we are just there for a show then right back out, 2 nights and we be gone.

I plan on staying at the Cabela's on 90 just west of the center.

Yes, Mississippi river road is really nice. Take I-355 to I -88 [another toll rd.], to the Quad cities, & down river. Lot of C O E campgrounds along the river. Hannibal Mo. has a nice campground & cave, as well as the city's history of Mark Twain. Follow river road south to Memphis, & then I -40 to home, OR, continue south to New Orleans, & I 10 to home.

On way back if you are in no hurry and come through Missouri think about going through north west Arkansas, just south of Fayetteville( I-540 is nice driving) is were we are located,Devils Den state park,U OF A,White river, eureka springs (I do not advise driving a r/v through Eureka)If pulling a car there is many things with in 20-30 min of here.ALSO WE have a farm with a large flat gravel area you could park over nightDo not have hook-up at this time but will soon,do have 110 on a 30 amp that helps. Any way just a though. We have driven to Houston from here several times,MD Anderson, just about 10 Hr total. We most of the time stop in Ft Worth for over night.
Tim (aka-tagcat) P.S. hear is a photo from out parking spot

Plasma I forgot to mention Cabelas. It's 5 minutes from my work and i end up going there on my lunch hour all the time. It's also easy on easy off to 90 and you will be real close to the convention center. Best choice by far.

That sounds great! Thank you so much for the offer. Part of our plan is to make our way down to Hot Springs via South MO and NW Ark. I'll get in touch with you when we are headed that way.

Great minds think alike!

I ended up coming up Algonquin to some street that took me down to higgins and right on it.
