Taking a trip in April from Houston, TX to Disneyworld. Would like to stop in Biloxi For night one. Visit pensacola naval air station, make it to somewhere in fl. For day two. Then on to wilderness park in Disneyworld. I have a 43' desiel. Any suggestions as to where to stop would be appreciated.

Hello and welcome to iRV2!

I assume your one night in Biloxi will be a simple overnight rest stop? We have stayed in three Mississippi campgrounds, two of them were overnight stops in Biloxi (Mazalea RV Park and Oaklawn RV Park). Both of those are close to I-10 and good enough for overnight. We have also stayed several days at the Hollywood Casino RV Park in Bay St. Louis, which is a very nice place. It's in walking distance of the casino, but is a few miles from I-10.

Do I understand this correctly? You want to drive 450 miles (approx) the first day to Biloxi, then drive 125 miles the next day to Pensacola to visit the NAS and the same day find another stop over in FL. Or, are you planning to visit the NAS while staying in Biloxi? I guess it really makes no difference but it sure sound like a long first day and the next day drive 125 miles east for a few hours, turn around drive 125 miles west and then the next morning drive east again. I'm sure I've missed the point but you may want to consider less driving one of these days.

We stayed at Blackwater river State Park when we visited Pensacola. Actually the park was our primary desination for the great canoeing , but we really enjoyed the NAS. It's about 35 miles away , no problems with big rigs

I have heard that the best state park in Florida is the Topsail SP in Destin. Look it up on the internet. It right along your route on I-10. Its on my to do list. You will find that most Fl state parks are a pretty good deal and have full hook ups. Will you be towing a vehicle to see the sights? It may make things easier.

I would like to make it to Biloxi the first night. Maybe visit a casino. Day two would be stopping at pensacola and continuing into Florida to about Tallahassee. Day three should be drive into Disney. I am not towing a vehicle, so my only transportation is the coach. Can one dry camp at any of the casinos?

You can dry camp at most Walmart's and many of the casino's HAVE rv parking...

You are ambitious with a 425 mile drive. You may be to tired to visit the casino. Oops, that's me in my older age. Hee hee.

If it is just doing a casino for the sake of doing a casino, consider Couchatte in LA for $20 a night and casino shuttle to the gaming room. Very nice RV park. Next morning would be a hop to P'Cola at 385 mile - better than 425 but still a haul.

Use the RV Park Reviews to get an idea of RV parks along your route. Or just bring up a Google map of the city you are interested in and then type in "rv parks" without the quotes to populate the Google map

Just some suggestions.

I'm only familiar with the Hollywood Casino at Bay St. Louis, but they have a full-hookups campground that is an easy walk across the parking lot to the casino. They also have a free shuttle that runs every half-hour or so if you are not inclined to walk. I have seen RVs dry-camping in the outlying sections of the casino parking lot, but I "assumed" there were no available spots left in the campground.

We have made the trip from Houston to the Mississippi coast several times; we find it is an easy 1-day drive with plenty of nice rest areas along the way. (There is good coffee at the Louisiana Welcome Center.

KMgraves. I hope you have a great time and your travels are pleasant. At the Fort you will not need a toad. To better plan your trip check out DIScamper or Fort Fiends.com on your search engine. Lots of ideas. I hope you already have reservations as Spring break makes April camping at DW difficult.

You better stay in a state park...Disney requires a lot of cash...and so do the casinos....while telling you your having a good time

I'm also planning a day or 2 at the beach near Destin.

We have made this trip several times. We are going in March for Spring Break however we usually leave Friday pm and our first night is at the KOA in Denham Springs, LA. Then we vary the trip into FL (how far we go the next day). Our plan in March is similar to yours however we need to be at WDW Sunday afternoon with a stop at the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola. The interesting part is that we are staying at Fort Wilderness for 3 nights and do not plan on going into any of the parks this year. Sea World and Discovery Cove are on the agenda this year and then down to Fort Myers to visit friends.
