how's the hills in S.Dakota

I'm heading out west from Ohio in June or July and wonder how steep the hills are on the way to Rapid City. i'm driving a 36ft motorhome with the 460 ford engine and
am concerned that I have enough power. I'm towing a Ford Feista.
Can anybody suggest a good reasonably priced campground in the area of
Rapid City ?
Thanks,Jim

We have done the trip three times with a V10 and towing Honda civic. No problems with power. We always stay at happy holiday campground. Friendly folks and clean campground. Close to everything.

Very flat land across S.D. until Rapid City. Once you get off I-90 you will encounter hills as you go towards the tourist attractions of Deadwood, Mt. Rushmore, etc.

East of Missouri flat land. Hill going down to Missouri River no problem unless need stop at Chamberlain for gas it's exit is 3/4 way down hill. Then up n down hills till Rapid City. Main problem hill is Wasta rest area/exit just past there have a pretty long hill not steep but long. Try get a little run on for that one. Don't stop at rest area if possible as soon as leave rest area u start long climb. Don't forget Aug means Sturgis rally. Try not to fill up between Missouri River n Rapid City. They get tourists bad in some towns with gas prices. If do Bad Lands Loop watch heat gauge many veh overheat on loop. Welcome to SD enjoy it.
