Hurricane Michael Hits FL Panhandle

I have reservations at Topsail and St George Island in late Dec to mid Jan.
Looks like Michael will cause a lot a damage. I guess I'll hope for the best to see if the campgrounds can get up and running by then. Likely to be a devastated area, not sure if it will ever be the same.

Top sail is on the west side of the storm and shouldn't be to bad. St George on the other hand may not be open by then.

We have reservations in a couple weeks for Ft Pickens (Gulf Islands National Seashore) and Rocky Bayou State Park in Niceville.

Waiting for the cancellation emails.

On to Plan B, whatever that is....

Hoping for the best for the area and it's residents.

Hopefully most got to a secure structure on higher ground. Epic event for this area.
Lots of pine plantations just inland.

Any information about St. Andrews State Park near PCB? That's one of our favorite campgrounds in the panhandle. Their website says they are closed indefinitely but no other information.

I live 9 miles east of Fort Pickens on the same island. They announced today on their Facebook page that they had completed assessments of the road. It is covered by several feet of sand and the bike path is damaged, making the road impassable. It will remain closed until further notice

The last storm that blew threw here, the road was just covered with sand with no damage to any of the pavement. They got it open again in about a week. I wish I could tell you you'll be fine and enjoying my island home as planned. Instead, if I were you I'd be doing some serious work on Plan B, just in case.

Were all of these Florida State Parks evacuated? I am surprised there has not been more reports from RV'rs that were in those parks.
