Hurricane Sandy
I am not letting Sandy ruin my weekend. Initial plan was to go to the Outer-banks this weekend. Due to Sandy the NC park service has enacted the hurricane plan.
Plan B, the moho is loaded and ready so we are going about 45 minutes to a campground in Bridgeton NC that is on the river across from New Bern.

I guess I don't understand why someone would want to risk being near a hurricane.

Maybe because they live on an island two miles by seventeen and there's basically no place else to run to?
Our homes are built a whole lot better than yours, though. designed for 140 mph sustained.
This is the view from our patio yesterday afternoon as Sandy went by to our west. 16 ft. seas and 60 mph winds.
We left the boat ashore.

I'm going to be near it either way. I might as well enjoy what nice weather I get around the storm.

Looks like a good hit for us in New England. I'll place the motorhome in the open out back away from any danger of falling trees. Cancelled the week end trip because the campground is loaded with tall pin. Atleast here it's all hardwood with no problem trees that I'm aware of.

Bruce living in an area that very occasionally gets tornadoes and often gets high winds, hard woods are as vulnerable, mostly through being uprooted or core rot. I had a large maple removed from our side yard because it had been hit with lightening multiple times and I suspected the split had let water in to the core. I was correct and it was an accident waiting to happen.

Agree, but with almost two acres of lawn there's no danger of trees falling to do damage to the motorhome. I make sure it's parked beside the garage and powered up. All the trees are on the tree line and no danger to anything, except my wood stove.
