Hwy 395 Campgrounds

Looking for campgrounds along California hwy 395 between Lone Pine and Oregon border that will accept a 35 foot motorhome. Hookups optional. Will be towing. Thanks.

Bill,

I only know of the small campground on the north edge of Lee Vinning. We stayed there for a couple of overnights, one at a time. It is fine. That may not be far enough north if you are starting in Lone Pine. I know there is a campground in Bridgeport. We haven't stayed there but it looked OK.

There are some forest camp grounds in the area too and not far of the beaten path.

North of Bridgeport and I'm afraid I can't recall anything. But I'm sure there will be nice campgrounds around Carson City.

Travel safe.

You are traveling my absolute favorite Highway, know 395 well. My kids live right off of it literally in Gardnerville, Nevada. Its an amazing route and could be a week long trip in itself.
First of all if you can take the time to stop at Manzanar National Historic Site, its around Lone Pine. Worth the stop and so much history there.
Not sure where you are coming from or if you will be stopping along the way.One of our favorite spots in Bishop, we have stayed there many times, I grew up camping there every summer from San Diego. anyway, we stay at Brown's Town there, its the south end of Bishop and has a variety of spaces to pick from. They have a little store there and the biggest ice cream cones you can find.
Also Bishop has a killer famous bakery and a mexican cafe there that has hands down some of the best food we have eaten.
We have also stayed in the little RV park in Lee Vinning and had a really nice time there. Enjoy the information center there for Mono Lake.
Traveling further north and into Nevada there is a nice RV park next to the Carson Valley Inn right on 395 in Minden....
Further north and into the Carson Valley there is a large RV park just prior to going into Carson City, we always fuel up there.
In Carson City there is an RV park next to a casino its off the new freeway exit on Highway 50.
Traveling north thru Washoe Valley and into Reno, just north of Reno is Border Town, there is an RV park there behind the casino. Its nice good location and they have good food at the cafe there.
Depending on how you are going to Oregon, should you be heading to eastern Oregon, you can take the Standish turn off and there is a nice little RV park in Standish called the Days End, we have stayed there also.
There is a RV park in Susanville, CA if you are heading to hit Interstate 5 or should you be heading via Alturas and Lakeview, Oregon can also give you some RV parks there.
We live in Bend, Oregon and travel 395 ALOT!
Highway 395 in California is a jewel, each little town has something to offer and the scenery is spectacular.
Great site to check out that will help you is

Slick on the state you want to find RV parks in and gives great reviews and all kinds of helpful information.
Hope this information helps. We are heading south on 395 in a couple of weeks and I can't wait....
Minden Nevada
Carson Valley RV Resort, its one the right side of the road heading north on 395. They are usually busy and do not know their rate.
About ten miles north on 395 just at the north end of the Carson Valley(again on the right) is
Silver City RV Resort. Its very big, easy access and easy to fuel up there.

If you're looking for a place to take a break for the night, there's also a decent rest area at Honey Lake along 395.

This may be a bit late -you did not say when? Boulder Creek in Lone Pine, Sparks Marina RV Sparks Nv, and there is a private place in Likely, Ca---just off the road on a ranchers property---it's kind of a kick----hook ups---no tv---but a golf course---rough. Likely is a one store town. We had fun.
