I-70 West to East Campground Suggestion

I am moving our MH 40 foot Monaco from Mesquite NV to Harrisburg PA across I-70 the week of June 12th 2017 and am having difficulty finding any campgrounds for overnight stays for the first night anywhere from Glensprings CO to Denver CO - any suggestions?
Thanks
Jeff

Download the APP RVPARKING.COM for listings at Gypsum, Vail and Silverhtorne. I am completely unfamiliar with any of the locations but there are a good number showing in the APP. If you see something that sounds good I always use GOOGLE EARTH and see what it looks like in general terms. I've found this is especially helpful in ruling out parks that are just a few feet from the train tracks.

Mesquite to the Vail area seems like a long day's driving. Of course we have dogs and that never speeds things up. We use the rule of 'never pass a rest stop' but it is much more relaxing travel IMHO.

Safe driving,

Tiger Run in Breck?

https://www.tigerrunresort.com/

Breck might be pushing it a bit - so

Home Page just before Glenwood Springs

Or Untitled 1 just before Vail

That's about it, for places with services.

Best of Luck,

We really like the US Forest Service campground at Heaton bay between Dillon and Frisco. https://www.recreation.gov/campgroun...O&parkId=70499

My wife uses the Allstays App when we travel on her iPad with wifi. It shows where we are and any campgrounds/parking close to us.

Depending on how far you want to drive from NV these are campgrounds we have used many times. 3 hrs from NV there is a nice KOA in Richfield, UT, about 3 hrs futher, a really nice campground in Fruita, CO Just over the Colorado border-Colorado River State Park-I believe its the name, or 2 1/2 hrs further is a nice KOA in Silt, CO or just out of Glenwood Springs take the Dot Zero exit to another campground - all campgrounds are a short distance off of I-70. Depending on your time frame and if you need to have a bite to eat, there is one off ramp for the town of New Castle - you have to pass by it either way-- stop at my sons diner "The New Castle Diner" it is in a good size shopping center so room to park the RV. Have a safe trip!!

Back in June/July 2013 we stayed overnight at the big Walmart in Rifle after spending most of the day in Arches NP and then heading into Colorado on I-70. It worked out well because the next morning we went through the Glenwood Canyon section in nice bright daylight. This timing also lets you do the rest of the run up past Vail and then the Eisenhower in the middle of the day. Even after stops in Eagle and Vail to walk around, we made it to Goodwood KS for the night (there's a KOA there that was very nice.)

Rifle has a very nice state park suitable for big rigs.

If you don't mind getting off the interstate a little, Leadville has some places to stay.

We just stayed at a Walmart in Grand Junction, CO, just across the UT state line. It worked fine. There are two Walmart's in town. The Super WM allows overnight parking, the smaller WM does not allow overnight parking according to the Allstays app. We also stayed at Hays, KS a Walmart. Both were fine and we felt safe.

The State Park campground in Fruita (west side of Grand Junction and right off I-70) is "James Robb State Park - Fruita", and there is also a James Robb State Park that is right on the CO River on east side of Grand Junction, right off I-70. The Fruita campground is one of our favorites in the area. Weekends will be busy at either location, but during the week you can likely get a spot without too much trouble.

The State Park in Rifle is Rifle Gap State Park. About 20 mins off I-70, but a nice lake and spots with a great view.

Thank You

Thanks to everyone for all your great suggestions. I was able to make nightly reservations at KOAs very close to I-70 for the 3 nights we will be moving the MH. This is unusual for us to just be moving the MH from NV to PA, normally we would take months and enjoy all the great stops along the way. However, for some reason, I think a temporary lack of judgement, I went back to work in PA for a few years and we want to move the MH there so that we can use it while we are there. So wish us luck - we fly into NV on a Saturday get all new tires on the MH on Tuesday, new dash AC compressor on Wednesday, visit our friends and pack the MH the rest of the week and head back to PA on Monday for a 4 day trip to PA.
