It can be brutal. Here's one where Korry Hogan came off at 240 plus and walked away.
Red Line Synthetic Oil - Hogan Crashes Top Fuel Motorcycle in Martin, Mich. at 246 MPH

Here's one where Steve Heidner came off at about 208 and wasn't quite as lucky. I was the next bike in line to run and I recall being pretty unsettled at the time.

A friend of mine was at Indy when Elmer Trott was killed. That helped set nitro bikes at NHRA events back nearly 20 years.

I need to see if they're running Nitro Harley or PSM at Atlanta.

pro stock. The nitro bikes are only at 4 national events. They won't be at any event where the pro stock bikes are. I think we have a total of 10 nhra events; 4 national and 6 divisional.

Fortunately for steve, his injuries weren't life threatening, couple broken bones and some friction burns that required some skin grafts.
Your guys are almost as crazy as our guys.

Has anyone camped at Atlanta Dragway? I live two hours away and drove back and forth last year but since I had media creds I was there Friday-Monday and while my company paid for the gas, that drive, especially when you added Monday, sucked.

The lot they use for camping had hardly anyone in it last year, but they did have a band and appeared to be partying which wouldn't be cool.

Unfortunately, there's apparently nowhere close to camp, at least according to RVParkreviews.com. Dead/bad websites and a nudist campground, which is fine by me except if I'm going to pay extra I'm not going to be gone 10 hours a day.

So if you've camped there, what are your thoughts?

Camping at Atlanta is decent...I mean you can find relatively level grassy areas to set up. It's a bit of a hike to the main entrance and if I remember correctly the fee was $140 last year ( might be a bit off on the price). The campers were fun without being out of control. It was cool/cold so plenty of fires around to stay warm. There was a band although can't remember much about them as there is always plenty of entertainment in the camping area. It rained heavily Sunday morning last year and we were still able to drive out without getting stuck in mud. Decent over all....

$140? Whew, pretty steep for primitive camping, but whatcha gonna do? I need to get some venture capital together and open a campground nearby.

I'll call Monday to get this years specifics, I'll be setting up Thursday afternoon so that way I can be ready Friday morning for qualifying. I do love the smell of nitro in the morning.
