Impromptu trip SC to FL

Ok we've decided to gather our four kids 8-12 and head down to Florida (from SC) for a few days. We have no firm plans or reservations. I figure all of the state parks are full this week, but we may call a few from the road to check for last minute cancellations. I doubt we attempt a Disney park but the DW keeps bringing up SeaWorld so we may end up in Orlando.

I didn't get a chance to wash the MH, does anyone know of a good RV wash on I-95 that would take up much time or money?

Also any campgrounds that the kids may enjoy between Savannah and Orlando?

Try Coastal Georgia RV resort for a kid friendly place near historic Jekyll Island. Nice pool and easy on/off highway.
Coastal GA RV Resort - Welcome Home

If you are going to Orlando area and can't get into Ft Wilderness try Tropical Palms RV Resort. It's kid friendly and has an evening nearby county fair type amusement park with rides and nearby minature golf. Lots of restaurants and nice pool.

If you want less city and more beach try either Jetty Park CG near Port Canaveral or Sebastian Inlet State park in Brevard County (Melbourne/Cocoa Beach area)

Here is another option for you close to Orlando. About 30 mins from Sea World and other parks. If your kids like the water, I am sure they would enjoy it.

There is a Blue Beacon Truck Wash at Exit 29 on I-95. I have used them.

I live just down the road. It was bought out a few years back the new owners have done a really nice job updating the place. You can get a bit of a sulfur smell from the spring during some months, but you get use to it.

Nice place to camp, swim, canoe, fish, etc.. I think they even have some entertainment from time to time.

This time of year Salt Springs Campground in the Ocala National Forest should be cleared out of snowbirds. It's a good place to camp and visit all the springs in the area, including Silver Springs.

We were up at Gold Head Branch SP a few weeks ago and ran into some locals who insisted we join their camping group. They had a daughter about my daughter's age. We spent 2 fun days in rainy weather listening to stories, having beers and keeping the fire going. It was a real blast. They were getting a 4th of july trip set up to go to salt springs and wanted us to join them. Too bad we'd already gotten reservations at Fort Desoto, Id have taken them up on it. They were a fun bunch. Its really what camping is all about.

Well, we are here. We got in last night just in time for the kids to swim for an hour before the pool closed. We are at Tropical Palms. So far it looks ok. Have yet had a time to explore. We will likely head out to a park today. And we camp here again tonight. We may try another camp tomorrow just for variety. Moss Park has openings. Anyone tried that?

We didn't bring our toad so we're are breaking camp everyday anyway.

As I recall Moss Park does not accommodate RVs. Haven't been there in a long time. Id check this place out, it looks really nice. I'm anxious to try it out.

From St. Augustine to Ormond Exit on I 95 while headed south we counted over 150 motorhomes and 5ers headed north. Many were Canadian. So, I am guessing the parks are emptying out.

Yes, we noticed the same thing last weekend going from Tennessee to Florida.
