Info on Parks in Lower AL & FL Panhandle??
We have five days in between meetings the 3rd week of September that we have scheduled free. I am looking for a good place to park for a few days that won't break the bank.
Any suggestions on RV Parks with long 50 amp spaces? We will be pulling our trailer so we are long. Wifi would be nice as well.
We will be going between Elba, Alabama and Richton, Mississippi. Any place in between will do, even down in the panhandle.
Thanks,
DKO

Open Pond Campground, Conechu National Forest, Alabama. South of Andalusia. North of Florala. $12.00 ($6.00 for us old guys) + $2.00 for 30/50 amp and water hook up. Dump station at exit. 30+ acre lake. Table, fire ring, lantern pole. Our favorite campground. Some good size 5th wheels and a few 40' MH's are in the campground when we go. Pretty much level spots. Well manicured campground. Its 20 miles to Andalusia for stores so take what you need (including marshmallows). Clean, modern shower house in each section. You would be using section C or D. They are both good.
But. Please don't tell anyone else. It's my favorite campground and I ain't sharing. LOL.

Gulf State Park near Gulf Shores, AL. Lots of long pull-thrus, 50 amp service, sewer, and some really nice people. I think we paid about $40/night, but we had a site on the boat canal. You can check it out on the Alabama State Parks website. Richton is right in my neck of the woods!

These are a little north of your route, but both will have 50 amp & water at the site with a dump station. Both are COE parks on the water. Try Miller's Ferry Campground on AL 28 at the Alabama River (William "Bill" Dannely Reservoir) or Service Park Campground at Coffeeville (address is Silas, AL) on the Tombigbee/Black Warrior River on US 84. If you have Senior/Golden Pass they're around $9-10 a night, depending on the site, or twice that if your don't. If you're planning going shopping these are not the places you want to stay, go to Gulf Shores.

The Service Park Campground at Coffeeville is one of our favorites. It is unfortunate that both of these will close or have already closed the first part of Sept. Many of the COE parks, and I have 5 within a two hour drive of us will be closed this winter. My wife and I love to camp during cool or cold weather. Will have to start looking for another place.

Sorry, My wife and I took a Sunday ride three weeks ago, and went to three different parks and Service Park, and Millers Ferry were two of them. We were told at both parks that that they would close the first of Sept. due to no funding, but the park website says that they will be open until Oct. 31.

That's a shame, they're both nice parks.

Here's a roundup of RV Campgrounds in Florida State Parks focused on Florida's Panhandle.
