My Wife and I are going to spend Memorial Day, 2007 on the Oregon Coast and have made reservations at the South Beach campground near Newport. Any one out there have info...good or bad. We know it is a "large" campground and will be crowded but we didn't want to go to the Oregon Coast on Memorial Day weekend without reservations and found out they are filling up fast. We will be using the campground as our base for 4 days of exploring using our bikes and toad.

Thanks,
Ron

We were at South Beach a little over 2 years ago and really enjoyed it. We used it as a base to explore Newport, lighthouses and the dunes. Generally speaking, Oregon has very nice state parks, wish California did.

We stay there in late Sept. regularly. It is a very nice place; if it only had full hook-ups. There are paths to the beach, where you can find agates.

Thanks for the information. We have used many of Oregon's parks but never one on the coast.

The sites are rather open but it is a great place. Don't leave anything out at night though. The last time we stayed there there were people driving through the park at night stealing ice chests etc.

Send a message via Yahoo to bistchr
Have you ever seen anything around the Roseburg or Bend Oregon region. I am looking at a stop over, check out retirement locations and then on to Crater Lake and Ft Klamath? Wife has never seen Crter Lake so how are the roads in that direction as well. Have 37" HR Endeavor.
