We've got a group of five RV's heading to Pirateland campground in early June. Everyone has a self contained unit except for us. We will be camping in a popup. I think we're staying in the lots up by the beach. Are there plenty of bathhouses for everyone? Are they clean? How much sand will we be cleaning out of the canvas at the end of the week?
Any other comments on the campground (good or bad) are apprecialted.

have a good one.

You will be fine.I think the bath houses are every 3rd row near the beach.I used them a couple times to shower and thought they were fine for a campground bath house.Sand was not an issue for us last July.We have 3 kids 2,10,and 12 and they really liked Pirateland.I am not a beachbum like the wife and kids, but found plenty to do to make a great time for everyone.Try crabby mikes for calabash seafood buffet. We went to a few and found them the best.Have fun on the lazy river when it is adult time.I think 2-4 pm.The rest of the time is all kids, not very relaxing

Unlike Frankie I would choose the wooded area. You have no shade except for a small cover over the picnic table. Sand will be everywhere. It is real bad when the wind blows or after a rain. Rent a golfcart and go visit your freinds on the beach side.

IIf you are going with other people you will probably have a good time. I myself will never stay there or Oceanlakes again. They are just not what I am looking for in a CG. They are very crowded, like everything in Myrtle Beach, and there are kids driving everywhere in golf carts and they don't respect people walking, or driving through the park. The spaces that are close to the beach are right out in the open in direct sunlight. The ones further back are in the shade, but spaces are small and quite a walk to the beach. The lazy river is the only nice thing about the CG. When I go camping I want quite relaxing atmosphere. When we go to Myrtle Beach we stay in Shallotte NC. You are close enough to drive into Myrtle beach but away from all the crowds. the KOA there is new and the owners are wonderful. The spaces are big and unlike other KOA's they don't charge you for every option, no matter what the web site says. Like I said with a bunch of other folks with you, you will probably have a great time. I am a different breed because with almost 1000 sites between Pirateland and Oceanlakes they are sold out most weeks during the summer, so somebody must like it. Plus with prices at 50.00 per night plus, it is not my cup of tea. I second crabby Mikes, great food. Make sure you go to Barefoot Landing and Broadway at the beach. I think Tuesday night is Fireworks. Have fun

I agree with NCHornet. We have 4 children and just got back from Ocean Lakes. The campground is beautiful- all new buildings- beautiful pool with palm trees. BUT, the golf cart traffic is crazy! We took bicycles and wanted to ride, but the golf cart traffic is too thick. It's a fun place for teenagers and college age kids who like to "cruise" the campground and check each other out. Our family loves to explore nature and enjoys a more laid back atmosphere- this experience was much different. The high-light of our MB experience was driving to Calabash, NC and taking a Dolphin Adventure Cruise. We went 2 miles out into the Atlantic and actually saw several dolphins. It was great. I'd recommend it!
