Check out www.campgroundreviews.com. Many on this site, including me, use it for part of our trip planning.

If you are looking for an overnight stop, here are two we have used and like:

Enchanted Trails, just west of Albuquerque and

Blake Ranch, a few miles east of Kingman, AZ

Another vote for American RV Park just W of Albuquerque (there is a Camping World across the interstate), and Meteor Crater CG west of Winslow. We took the tour at Meteor Crater, only takes about half a day, unless your wife likes rockhounding, then it takes at least 2 days (ask me how I know. . .).

A direct answer to your OP question: There are TONS of good CGs along I-40.

Two of the better ones are Oasis in Amarillo and American in Albuq.

I'm boycotting Arizona for my own reasons. [But will back off long enough to take Sally to the Grand Canyon.] But that's just me.
