ISO Campground near Gulf Shores, AL

We’re thinking of relocating around Gulf Shores, AL...maybe. Low AL taxes are very appealing. So, first things first. We’re looking for decent campground suggestions where we can stay a couple weeks. Plan is to run around and look at housing. Looking forward to your suggestions. TIA!

Do your research well. For example, Florida protects your home if you have unfunded long term care expenses, but Alabama does not. Speaking with a good elder law lawyer who practices in both states was a revelation to us.

I'd recommend Gulf State Park.

Are you aware of hurricanes hitting that area?

If price isn't a consideration there's a pretty new park named Pandion Ridge in Gulf Shores. If it is, then I agree with twogypsies that Gulf State Park is a better option.

You'd easily fit in the state park.

Be aware that the tags for motorhomes can run around $1,500+- a year in Alabama.

We spent a month at Lake Osprey RV Resort in Elberta AL. This allowed us full access to the club house, pool and we had a cement full hook-up site that offered 100 AMP service if required. Now our daily rate which did not include electric since this was metered, was a little under $27. a night. The electric cost was not more than $75 for the month. This was in the fall of Oct 16. So, I would check them out for the new monthly rate now. Great area to glamp.

In Gulf Shores Proper you have two choices, Luxury RV or Gulf State Park. You have more options a few miles east in a Orange Beach. Parks that you can purchase or rent include Heritage RV Resort, Terry Cove Motor coach resort, and Beuna Vista Rv in OBA. A little inland you have Belle Terra, Lake Osprey, Fairhope MC Resort, and a new park that has recently opened near OWA theme park, can’t remember the name though. Fairhope is closer to Mobile bay than to the beach. For just rental in OBA you have Gulf State Park which separates the two towns, Pandion Ridge, and Sugar Sands. There are many more parks up close to Foley that are primarily geared toward snowbirds. We own in Terry Cove but I’ll admit , Heritage is probably the park that all others are judged against, it’s got that million dollar view of the bay that all the others lack.

We have a 2015 Entegra Anthem registered in Baldwin County, Alabama - and our taxes are under $900. Taxes for the most part are fairly low. We own a lot at Bella Terra in Foley and love it. Yes, it can get cold in the winter, but doesn't last long .. yes, it can get hot and humid in the summer (lasts longer)! But, love the gulf coast. You can rent for a month at Bella Terra for fairly decent rates.

I answered you. Yes, when you first register a MH in Alabama, then you will pay "Sales Tax", which could be in the $2500 range (not sure); but then your yearly tags are what we paid $900 for last year. It goes down every year with the age of your MH. And if you are indeed looking at Orange Beach or Gulf Shores area, that is Baldwin County.
