James Island County Park

We've been there several times before and I always cringe with the low hanging trees on the way into the park. Does anyone have a particular route they take to get to the park to avoid tight turns or low overhead trees? We are loaded up and leaving in the morning.

Not only are the trees there low but so is the ground. If it rains you can expect a muddy mess.

It's a very nice park in South Carolina. We stayed there quite a few times for the kayak festival. We had a Class C then and I don't remember any problems with getting there. There are nice waking/bike paths throughout the park.

Yeah, I hear you about the trees..... when we went there, the GPS took us on a round about way, no issues with trees. When we left, we went the more direct route and I was really concerned about the trees. We had no issues, but they sure do look like they are too low !

Been there once, about 3 years ago. Loved the park! But, as mentioned, the drainage seems poor in certain places. We had torrential rains as we arrived and within minutes I had ankle-deep water all around the RV. Standing in the water, plugging in the electric.............. probably not one of my brightest moments.

Haven't been there, but have reservations in a few weeks. I'd really appreciate your posting if you find a good route. In looking at google maps, it seems there are two streets possible; Riverland Drive (either north or south) or Camp Road (East). Looks like Riverland Drive North is the worst, but can't really tell.

Riverland drive has low trees but not too low for access. Tractor trailers travel that road frequently. That is the route we took this time and will take it again. Taking camp rd will not gain you anything. I was in my discovery and my parents in their entegra. You shouldn't have any issues.

I am pulling a fifth wheel to James Island County Park next month. It is at 13' tall. What is the best route for me to take in? Has anyone else gone in with something this tall? I would appreciate your input. Thanks.

Yes, as long as there's availability. They fill up fast.

I am looking at coming in mid to late May. Any suggestions? I would like satellite if possible.

If your satellite is permanently mounted you may have issues. If not you'll be OK. We've stayed on site#80 several times and been able to get satellite. It's is mounted on top.
