Kansas City campgrounds
I am heading through Kansas City on I-35 on my way back north. Can anyone recommend a good overnight campground or stop for my 43' DP and toad?

Hillsdale Lake on southwest side of KC on the Kansas side and Smithville Lake in the Northeast side of KC on the Missouri side. Both have roomy spots and clean restrooms and reasonable prices. Nice view of the lakes and good fishing. Golf courses are nearby both also. If you are just passing through you could just dry camp at a Walmart or something of that nature.

Just stayed at Worlds of Fun last month. Casino Cruiser #77 bus takes you downtown.

You can't beat Smith Fork or Crows Creek east of Smithville. Worlds of Fun if you have little kids, but beware, there are gang issues at Worlds of Fun park on occasion.

The campground is just next to the park, not in Worlds of Fun. Good park for just spending a night or two. I live in KC, hearing of "gang issues" at Worlds of Fun is news to me. Most gang members have better things to spend money on than a $59 amusement park ticket. Plus most gang violence is directed at enemy gang members so unless the OP is in a gang, probably doesn't have to worry about it anymore than he would if he went to Walmart or the grocery store.

We stayed at the Worlds Of Fun park on our way through Kansas City, and it was very nice. Very clean park, nice concrete pads with good hookups, easy in and out and no sign of any gang activities. It is not a quiet park during the daytime as it's right beside the rollercoaster, but we knew that going in. I imagine the place is packed during the July 4th long weekend!
Thanks for the recommendation, it was a good one.
