Looking for any info on personal experiences with campgrounds in the area. We will be trying to hook up with some friends flying into KC for a few days in late May, early June.

[There is a nice gampground over in Lawrence Ks at the lake. About a 45 min drive to the KC Airport via the turnpike. Also a KOA right off of the turnpike. I would go for the lake, it is real nice.

Take a look at Cottonwood Camping RV Park. 913-422-8038. TL rateings of 6 - 7.5 - 5. Just off Int 70 and Highway 73. Very close to Int 70 and the 435 Loop which heads right to the airport.
I have not been there. It is a fairly new capmground. For what your looking for, its an easy 12 miles from the airport. About 3 miles from the Kansas Int Racetrack. Lots to do there to keep you entertained for several days. Cabela's, lots of resturants, fast foods, Nebr. Furniture Mart, Movies, on and on.

I lived in Overland Park KS (suburb of KC) for 25 years....I'm so sorry to tell you there are no good RV parks in the entire area. Cottonwood Park is actually in Bonner Springs, KS...near the speedway. Just find a park close to where want be and just know it ain't gonna be much. One of the reason we don't go back to visit that area much. rockintom
