Key largo florida

We are looking for any input on RV parks in this area. We saw
CALUSA CAMPGROUND, it looks nice, but there are some very
negative reviews on trip advisor. Anyone have any recent input ?
We are planning to visit 5/9 for four nights.
Thanks !

Calusa is a nice park, a little tight and close. Not sure what they say on trip advisor, but if your not familiar with the cuban american culture you could be in for a shock especially if this is over a weekend.

The only other option available in key largo is Key Largo Campground and Marina or possible john pennekamp state park, but they book out way in advance.

lived in key largo for 35 years

We wanted to stay in Key Largo in November but found nothing we liked. We ended up at the KOA on Sugarloaf Key...we liked everything but the price.

I second the opinion about understanding Cuban culture esp. on the weekend. The sites are very close and multiple families on each site.

Calusa sites are privately owned so it will be a sub-lease AFAIK. Maybe the park owns some but you will see a lot of for sale signs. Yes the sites are a little tight and there is a big Latin presence. Key Largo Kampground sites are also privately owed and it was a very nice CG last time we visited. Call first, they are sub-leased. Pennekamp needs to be booked almost a year in advance but if you are a gambler could try a walk up and see if there are any cancellations.

30 miles or so past Key Largo is RV Resort - Tent Camping ? Vacation Activities ? Hotel and Bar | Long Key, FL Like KL Kampground it was a KOA. We drove through last year to check it out not bad. When going by last month their sign had a $59.95 any site or something like that but call to see, it caught my eye going by but can't swear about the details.

Assuming you mean Sept 5 by 5/9 you may have better luck with reservations than this time of year.

Thanks for all the input ! I believe we will not enjoy the experience.
We are going to try Fiesta Key RV instead.
Looks good, anybody have any experience with it, since the
new owners, Morgan RV, took over.
