Kick the Tires & Light the Fires!

Next Friday we leave for an epic month long summer trip! Although I would like to say it will be great to leave the desert in the summer, it looks like the heat is everywhere!

Starting out in the south. Not the time of year I would like to go to Texas but we are visiting family so Waco here we come. Leaving next Friday, I plan on staying at Monihans Sandhills State Park in Texas on Saturday night. On to Waco through the Fourth. Then probably going to stay in Hot Springs for a day before heading to Nashville. Will be staying at Two Rivers Campground( I'll be sure to review it). Neither myself or my Honey have been here so we are looking forward to it! About four days.

From there heading up to Michigan, again to visit family, but also to show my girl some of the sites. Mom & Dad, bless there hearts, at the age of 86 years are wanting to go camp?!? Well, don't want to disappoint so we reserved some cabins at three campgrounds. My brother, who is their caretaker will be joining us.

First stop:Frankenmuth Jellystone. Frankenmuth is a village with an 'Octoberfest" flavor. We are going to spend two nights there. Plan to meet another brother for the day. I'll be sure to pick up some Christmas ornaments for all my friends. Bronner's!

Then, we head up to Mill Creek Campground in Mackinac City. This is one of my favorite campgrounds. Right on Lake Huron, you can see the bridge and the islands off shore. My Mom is an artist and loves to see the lighthouses! Of course, we will be heading over to Mackinac Island. Can't wait to share this place with my girl! Three nights, two days in the area.

From there we are taking US2 along the coastline of Lake Michigan to Door County, Wisconsin. We will be at Wagon Trail Campground for three full days. I plan on getting on the lake and try to land some Salmon! This campground has received some pretty low reviews on Google. I'll let you know what my take is on it.

From there we are heading west to Ham Lake Campground outside Minneapolis. Visiting old friends while there for the weekend.

Next up is Sioux Falls, SD. Probably just going to stop and see the falls and onto Snake Creek Recreation Area in SD.

From there to Buffalo Bill's Ranch state Park in Nebraska. Onward to Trinidad Lake State Park, Colorado.

From there back to Arizona to enjoy the fabulous August weather....you know, the time of year everyone wants to be in the desert....NOPE!

Glad fuel prices are down!

Scooby...we'll be in the UP in July, I'm sure your girlfriend will be amazed at the sites. We'll take in Pictured Rocks before visiting with family in the area. Route 2 to the West Coast is in a future trip. Enjoy.
