Kitty Hawk N.C. RV Parks

On my way to Florida this fall I'll be stopping in Kitty Hawk N.C. for my daughters wedding. Did a few searches on available Campgrounds/RV Parks and it appears there isn't much available Traveling from Pa. I plan on staying a day or two in the Kitty Hawk area before heading south to Citra Fl. Any info on some parks that would accomodate a 38' DP with 10' trailer would be deeply appreciated

We stayed at North River Campground in Shawboro for a week and loved it. Every site is a waterfront site with half of them designed for "pull ins" so the coach windshield faces their little fishing lake. All lawn surrounding the lake and the sites. I think it was about 25 miles from there to OBX/Kitty Hawk area but a pretty drive. If you decide to check it out it's a little bit out of the way but our GPS took us right there.

Good Luck...

Rick

The North River CG is great. Emmett and Judy are great folks and will see to any needs you might have. North River was originally a hunting club where Andy Griffit spent a lot of time. The last time I was there I saw a Black Sow and two cubs about 600 yds from the CG. Great place, swamp all around. Kitty Hawk CG sits right on beach road and is very tight for a big rig. The big advantage is the transit sites are right across the road from the beach. The Refuge in Maneto is a nice CG that is clean and new..a little pricey though...Happy trails..

Bob, We have stayed at a campground in Kitty Hawk. It is small and spans the area between beach road and by-pass. I'm not very sure it would accommodate a 38' MH. Most spaces are permanents and only a few for transients. Nothing fancy, but convenient to the area. Did you try a google search? There are some CG's farther south.

Kitty Hawk Rv Park Mile post 4 252.261.2636. Ask for the left side near the water about four sites there for big rigs. The ocean is just across the beach road and while its tight its ok for 3/4 days..Should be ok after labor day and you may have the sites to yourself during the week Take care, safe miles.
