La Crosse to Redwing area sugestions.

Looking for a nice campground to spend a week at this fall and would live to have some recommendations. Last year our fall trip was to Pikes Peek State park in Iowa and we really enjoyed the area and the small river towns so we'd like to do the same type of trip again this year but a littler further north in Minnesota or Wisconsin.

Friends of ours just built this RV Park, in Nelson, WI. The Great River Road (Hwy 35), runs up and down the Wisconsin side of the Mississippi. Lots of small river towns to visit. We live here ourselves. The park is new, and the trees are small, but, wide open spaces for your RV. Otherwise, there are other parks in the are too. nelsonslandingrvpark.com

If you want to be close to the Twin Cities, Lake Elmo Park Reserve is a great place to stay. Fishing pier, walking trails, close to shopping, very nice sites. The sites are large and private. We will be staying there at the end of July and have visited many time with friends.

What a unique site layout for the Nelsons Landing RV park. It appears that everything is back-in, but still a refreshing concept rather than just straight rows of sites.

Thanks for the two recommendations they look like great places. I'll look a little more at the area around these parks and make a decision.

Thanks again,

Robby

My wife grew up in Lake City so we have spent a lot of time there. I don't know anything about the new campground in Nelson but we have stayed at the Lake City rv park a number of times. I think it is the Lake Pepin campground. Just a grass parking area. Far from being a resort but works. The Mississippi River area is really pretty in that part of the state. If you get to Nelson be sure to eat at Beth's. The eagle sanctuary at Wabasha is also interesting. Across the river Stockholm, WI is a neat place to visit.

And, don't forget the Nelson Cheese Factory (where you would go to register for the RV Park). And our place, which we just sold: Nelson Stone BarnThe Stone Barn for pizza, beer and wine.
Opens May 20th!
